57 percent of people who dont know how it works or how it is supposed to work as well as there is no way to explain why they don't like it.

Granted, there are a group of people who want a true popular vote democracy those people, of course, would not like the electoral system.

Which is exactly why the Founding Fathers did not want our leadership chosen exclusively by popular vote.

Exactly. They did not want democracy, meaning mob rule. They created a Republic.

They did not trust the mental acumen of the masses.

Of course if they saw the results of women and those without property now voting …..they would know…..far faster than us……how our country is irrevocably doomed to a banana republic status.

That's a bit much. The key is returning to our country's Christian foundations.

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

GWs address was written on like the 26 grade level.

Jacksons on the 22 grade level. Biden was 9th. Harris convention speech was 7th..

True Dat. We now have bartenders and cow farts dictating energy and environmental policy. And most of the sheep have no problem with this. Just plain sad.

They had several things in their favor for creating a successful document. First, there was a relatively small group of people and they had total autonomy over what they did. Very little transparency. Today, you would have so many different groups and coverage that nothing would get done. I am afraid, you could not create a workable document under today's conditions.

Second, once you got into the habit of trashing and starting over, as soon as they don't like a decision trash it and start up again.

We have to protect what we have, we will never create it again or let it grow like it did. Think about that, growing pains. The US went through several periods of growing pains. Think of today's society dealing with that? Tik-Tok would determine the answers...

Hard to accurately determine such an accusation.
Public schools are better funded now than in the 1800's.

Literacy I would suspect is better today.

However those who could read back in the 1800's were probably better read than those of us today. They read newspapers, novels , poetry, biographies, histories and journals.

They were more socially active in various literary clubs and organizations.

Today we are more isolated than ever with most people limited to their cell phones as their only worm view to reality.

Social media, texting and TV has dumbed down the population. Texting, people don't even use punctuation or spell correctly, even with spell check.

You are dead-on in the reading. Just look around the gym at the cardio, how many read vs how many listen to music or whatever. Used to be more, I remember treadmills having Kindle attachments.

Public schools are better funded but don't educate students better. Basic literacy levels, math skills, grammar, historical knowledge, understanding of the constitution, and many other essential skills are often poor in today's graduates. Today, even people have trouble reading complex texts. Take the Federalist Papers, for example: they were written for people with elementary education but today are difficult for people with graduate degrees.

Schools today are too busy indoctrinating kids with the trans cult, racist lies, the climate cult, and other woke garbage. It's all lies and deception and goes not prepare kids for the real world. Too many younger people (& older) don't know how to think for themselves.

It's another way of describing propaganda and it's common among the mainstream media. They are getting very good at it except it's often pretty obvious and easy to call out with some effort. They seriously do act like they graduated from the Joseph Goebbels School of Journalism.

Minimum significance of the post is that Nate Silver is a Democrat. He's not trying to spin anything to help Trump.......

Silver takes a lot of heat for some reason, but his analytics and models are the gold standard. Campaign strategists from both parties follow him closely. And he's very open about his factors.

You also have to remember he's no longer with 538 so he's free to do his own thing

He does a fair enough job, but he tends to be wrong on the side of Democrats in his modeling.

If he is suddenly over stating Trump, it would be atypical for him.

Alot of the polls are off brand so to speak and the national brands are fading in age

If he has a Dem lean, it's only b/c the polls he factors in have a Dem lean, which they have for Trump but not most other Republicans.

And he tries to compensate for that by rating pollsters and factoring in traditional leans.

I'm sure there are exceptions on bias, and of course, there are some flat-out bad pollsters, but the Dem bias relative to Trump is no secret. Virtually every pollster acknowledges there are "shy" Trump voters. The difficulty is in how you change your poll questions to adjust for that.

Cahaly thought he had a method for that, but he fell hard on his face in 2020.
