The Europeans have more in common with the Russians than they think....
I would much rather live in Moscow than Berlin, Paris, or Loondon.
Actually, the double O was a typo, but rather than correct it I left it alone as it seemed to be fairly accurate.
great to hear. You buy your passport as I'm fairly sure you don't have one and I will pay for a 1 way ticket to Moscow for you. Meanwhile, I'll go to Paris. (I've lived there). Have you been to Berlin, Moscow, London or Paris?
I would love to visit Moscow. A friend did - he said it was the only place he's ever been with virtually no English - that was a long time ago, but I doubt it has gotten more English friendly in 15 years. I cannot imagine any city better than Paris.
Moscow is great to visit. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Wouldn't live there, though. Paris is hard to beat from my experience. Lived there almost 2 yrs in an apartment and operated like a local...learned the language, no English menus , kids had to speak French (13 and 14), rode the Metro everywhere. Met friends. daily shopping at different markets as they rotate by day. And no, like many on this board would, I did not order "Freedom Fries"! lol
I posted something similar years ago, but timing is good for a repost. I work for one of the O&G majors. We of course operate all over the world. I cannot stand Moscow, and it has nothing to do with my political views. In fact, I wanted to like it, because my wife's family are Russian immigrants.
But setting my views aside, our company studies all international assignments. One thing we do is track employee satisfaction relative to where they live and work. We consider many factors, but one of the more interesting is comparing expectations before an assignment with sentiment after the assignment. Keep in mind we operate in some truly awful place to live, but also some of the nicest. Think the worst of Africa and the Middle East, but also places like Paris, London, Berlin, Singapore, Australia, Buenos Aires.
Anyway, out of hundreds of areas we operate and send employees, Moscow ranked very near the bottom, having one of the widest gaps between expectations and post-assignment sentiment. In fact, even just plain overall approvals, it ranked far lower than most would expect.
Bottom line, those that say they'd want to live in Moscow really wouldn't want to . . . regardless of what Tucker Carlson says . . . .
