Great demographic info there. I was surprised that someone would assert that Russia's population is great than the US. We have 335 million and growing, they have a fraction of that and declining. We are the world's third most populous country, only behind China & India.

Yep, the USA alone outnumbers Russia almost 3 to 1….yet we totally need to be scared of the mighty Russians taking on NATO (900+ million strong)

If we don't stop them and their rusted old Soviet tanks in Ukraine they will march right into Paris!
So let them take Georgia, Crimea, Ukraine. You are right Putin doesn't have to worry about beating NATO with people like you and Obama at the wheel. He can just take it after all he is no threat. He is putting the old Soviet Union together, bit by bit. But, he is no threat. I am sure Vlad agrees.

When did Georgia, Crimea, or Ukraine join NATO?

When did we become treaty obligated to defend these far off eastern lands?

Don't need to just give them to Putin. Romania is not worth fighting for, right,? Should we really fight for NAto members not worthy? Turkey? Estonia? Why fight?

By the way, we didn't fight in any of those areas, just gave them the means to resist. But same thing, right.

Romania, Turkey, and the Baltic states are in fact members of NATO…so yes I would for fighting for them if they were invaded.

We actually have a treaty with them.

Maybe you just don't know who is in NATO and who is an actual ally of the USA (as confirmed by the Senate)?

Let me give you a map…

No US combat troops are fighting in Ukraine. We are supplying what they ask for and training. You should love Bidens approach.

As for you map, very short sighted view of the world. If they are not on that map we can't supply materials for defense? Ridiculous.

Yall would be correct if what you believed was the truth.

After 20 years in Afghanistan/Iraq that amounted to a massive failure and all the other bull **** DC had pulled…I don't believe a g damn thing coming from our government, especially about war.

They could easily be lying their asses off about the current state of Ukraine/Russia. It wouldn't be the first time they've knowingly lied.

Our federal leadership knowingly lied to the American people in their determined attempt to get someone else's sons to fight in WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Yet generation after generation we continue to believe their garbage with the poor and middle class doing the disproportionate amount of fighting ( and dying ) while the elites hide in the background getting richer.

And the tools at their disposal to brainwash people have only gotten stronger over the past 30 years.

I am actually shocked at how many average people can still tell they are getting scammed and still resist.

I would guess no more than 50% of American buy the current BS that "Ukraine must be defended or the russkies will conquer Paris!"

Most can see it's not a war that really concerns us and it's more of an opportunity for DC insiders to make a lot of money using taxpayer cash.

Not trying to be a smart a _ _ here, but you're saying we are brainwashed but also that most aren't buying the Ukraine brainwashing.

Anyway, I don't think you're giving the public or the media enough credit.

As for the media, unlike the old days, there is plenty of "alternative" media out there. In fact, they get the better ratings/traffic, and I'm not talking Fox News.

As for the public, I think views on Ukraine are far more nuanced than you do. I think very few people think we have zero interest over there, and I think very few people truly think "Paris is next." I think a strong majority believe that Putin is a really bad actor who fights us indirectly wherever he can and aligns himself with our worst enemies and that the less power/control he has the better for us and our allies.

The real debate is whether out interest is strong enough to justify spending $ billions. I've posted a number of times that I understand both sides of that argument.

I also think very few people truly believe that we are supporting Ukraine so that DC insiders can get rich. That's just a cheap talking point. Maybe it's because they are Neocons with a different world view than you. Maybe they are stuck in the cold war. Maybe they truly want to help Ukraine. There could be any number of reasons. But I don't believe it's about individuals getting rich. There are far more powerful lobbies that are being hurt by this war. My industry included.

I was more talking about how governments and business have poured huge amounts of money into research into how people think and how to influence people at scale.

We have learned a lot about the human brain since the 1960s and that info has been used to shape everything from how we buy products, to how we engage in politics. to everything else.

There are some pretty fascinating articles out there that discuss this issue.

Governments obviously use these same tools to influence people toward certain geopolitical stances that they favor.

I often wonder if the billions of $$$$ we send to Ukraine is part of some elaborate scheme of Biden paying them off to keep quiet about Hunter's crimes & his own. Maybe it's hush money and we are footing the bill. When I'm my most cynical, I'm beginning to think that far too much of the federal budget is a complex money laundering scheme to buy off various constituencies to keep them voting for the Dems, and to help with stuffing ballot boxes, rent a mob activities, etc. it's getting more & more difficult NOT to see the anti democratic "Democrats" as the largest organized crime ring in history. And we said get to foot the hill for all their shenanigans.

I really hope I'm wrong.

I said "virtually the entire free world."

Then you listed the countries sanctioning Russia. I said "supporting Ukraine."

In addition to Euros, this includes, among others: Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Cambodia, Jordan, Israel, Pakistan, Morocco, Columbia, United Arab Emirates, and others.

Regardless, my post responded to historian suggesting Biden was supporting Ukraine to protect Hunter, and my point was our traditional allies and many more were supporting Ukraine. Sometimes it's simple.

Interesting…if you are not sanctioning Russia for the invasion then how are you "supporting Ukraine"?

Obviously most of the actual counties in the world do not give a crap about this war one way or the other.

But yes I guess if you call the western bloc the free world then technically the free world is supporting Ukraine.

By supporting I mean monetary, supply, and/or military aid. And the list in your post is way short. See my prior post. If you exclude Russia's closest allies and countries who can't afford aid to any countries, a vast majority are supporting Ukraine.

It would be more accurate to say a large part of the world is just staying neutral.

Again, the Western bloc is giving weapons and money to Ukraine (about 31 nations)

The rest of the world (while not giving money to Russia) continues to trade with it and do business with Moscow.

There are 195 countries in the world

No, it's not just the western bloc, and I don't think your definition is any better than mine.

It goes far beyond North America and Europe. A strong majority of free, democratic countries with advanced economies are supporting Ukraine militarily. Again, for example, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Cambodia, Jordan, Israel, Pakistan, Morocco, Columbia, United Arab Emirates.

That is a massive coalition, almost unprecedented against a major nation.

And this does not include the dozens of other countries providing direct economic and humanitarian aid to Ukraine - Argentina, Chile, China (yes, China), India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.

Only a few countries are supporting Russia militarily, and only a few more are helping them economically.

Yes, countries are continuing to trade with Russia, but they trade with Ukraine also.

In your list of 195, about 1/3 don't send aid anywhere because they can't - Central America, most of Africa, Asia, for example. Another 40 have populations under 1 million.

There is a reason Russia Joe is obsessed with giving billions to Nazis in Ukraine but not Israel. And not sanctioning Russian oligarchs that gave him millions.

C'mon man . . . 45 countries, including virtually the entire free world and all of our allies, are supporting Ukraine.

Right… "entire world"

Reminds me of the meme:

Look at who isn't. Besides India the economies are not near enough to support the Russian economy, nevermind China. Basically, the EU, North America, the Asian Ring and Aus/NZ, basically any economy worth a ***** Let's see how lone a India/Pakistan/Russia/China economic power lasts...

Oh sure.

The Western bloc has all the best economies and most productive nations.

It's the most formidable economic/military alliance on earth without a doubt.

Just if we are counting heads…there are a lot of countries out there they don't care about the priorities of DC
Since when does counting heads make the difference? Nations with alot of heads and crappy economies are welfare cases, not allies

95% of Russia's trade comes from about 20 countries. Most are involved on one side or the other in this conflict. The fact there are another 150+ other countries is irrelevant.

When the pro-Ukraine war side pretends that there is some kind of world consensus against Russia.

Truth of course is that most nations don't care at all and can't be bothered to even be bribed by DC into pretending to care about this war…

You can go off on all this horse crap that means nothing. Bottomline Russia invaded Ukraine. Do you stand for or against Nations defending themselves? All the rest is semantics. Putin rolled tanks over the border, you either support him and do nothing or support Ukraine and help. Which is it? What do you stand for?

Well, can you name any broader military/economic aide coalitions?

And, who among those countries not supporting Ukraine in any way, do you consider largely free, advanced economies, etc.?
