Musk probably did not know that. My guess he was responding to the "Squad" member who said her primary loyalty is to Somalia.

Dual citizenship wasn't even possible until the 70ties.

Shouldn't they have had to amend the constitution to allow that?

Most sane countries don't allow dual citizenship bcs it's unfair and creates a caste system where some citizens get special treatment and play by a different set of rules than the rest.

Not to mention the fact that one country will always receive less loyalty.

Correct. Twitter and Red wrong again. Musk was referring to Omar, and the quip about Jewish dual citizenship is total BS that has floated around the internet for years mostly on antisemitic sites.

According to the constitution, Congress has the authority over naturalization (Art I, sect 8).

I didn't personally make any claim about the country or numbers.

I'm against all dual citizenship in Congress (Somalia or Israel)

Can we get an accurate headcount of how many of our leaders in DC have dual allegiance?

I think that would be nice to know

I have mixed feelings about people with dual citizenship. I can understand the reasoning behind it for some. However, it disqualifies someone from a position of leadership, including membership in Congress, if their primary loyalty is to a foreign country. Members of the government must swear an oath to uphold the constitution. If they cannot abide by that oath then they should be immediately removed from that position. Unfortunately, our leaders are wimps and cowards who are unlikely to do anything about this. Part of me likes the proposal of DeSantis: expulsion from Congress, denaturalization, deportation. I don't expect that will happen either.

What do you think folks who didn't know better would take away from that tweet? I'll tell you: One, Musk called out pro-Israel politicians. Two, Congress is awash in dual-Israelis. Both are false.

As to your question, I'm unaware of any dual-Israelis in Congress. I don't think any were born there or served in the IDF. If there are some, I'm sure it would be plastered all over alt-right twitter.

Awkward....

I certainly would love to know if there are in fact dual citizens in our Congress serving the interests of foreign nations....would certainly explain some of the actions of our Congress.

I have no direct knowledge but would love to find out.

You seem to not want to know if it implicates the ethno-state of Israel.

So why don't we just address the third rail and maybe you guys can put on you big boy pants and have a debate without calling me one of the bad guys from WW2.

Is it healthy in a democratic republic to have one minority ethnic group MASSIVELY over-represented in the most powerful positions in our government?

It's no secret that Jews are highly tribal and well organized. The most powerful lobby in DC is the Pro-Israel lobby. They will fund Jewish candidates in congressional races all across the country bcs those candidates are going to be Israel's loudest advocates.

I dont fault them for putting themselves first. It's rational. I do fault them for creating this culture of fear that seems particularly present among white, non-jews that if you criticize Israel or the Israeli lobbyists, you are a called a nazi and branded with this scarlet letter of antisemitism that justifies your removal from polite society. To use the analogy of the carrot and the stick, AIPAC and J Street are the carrot and the ADL and SPLC are the stick.

It's all very 1984. And you don't get this when criticizing any other ethnic group in America.

Awkward? As usual, you need to actually research.

Mast actually is a lifelong Christian, who served in the U.S. military and lost both legs in Afghanistan.

He later volunteered packing medical kits for the IDF.

BTW, I did not say there aren't any dualies. I just said Cruz and Bachman were the only ones I've known, and I'm not aware of any dual-Israelis.

You said and I quote: "don't think any...served in the IDF"

I then posted a article about a member of Congress who did in fact serve in the IDF...then wore his old IDF uniform in the Halls of our Legislature

I asked again for how many members in Congress have Dual loyalty?

That is a question not a statement.

Do you understand the difference?

My gosh, this is not difficult. The issue you raised through your post and pasted tweet was dual-Israeli citizenship. The tweet suggested that is a huge problem that even Elon recognizes!

I said I am not aware of any in Congress. I do not pretend to know every intricacy of Israeli citizenship, but obviously being born there is one way. And I also know that enlisting and serving in the IDF is another way, but I'm sure there are specific criteria that must be met - guessing type of service, duration, for example.

You then seemed to find that smoking gun showing there may be one! An article about Rep. Mast wearing his IDF uniform. That was hardly a secret. The media covered that heavily. But I do not think his volunteering to pack medical kits is the kind of service that qualifies for Israeli citizenship. Maybe I am wrong.

But sitting here on an airplane heading east right now, I still am unaware of any dual-Israelis serving in Congress. There may very well be some, as well as dualies as to other countries beyond Cruz.

Then you seemingly moved the goal post from dual citizenship to "Dual Loyalty," is that right? If so, I'm not sure what that means. Do you have dual loyalties in Congress if you are a Christian? A Texan? Work in oil and gas? Are part Irish?

Posting a link to twitter does not mean the poster of the link is making a claim.

You have to understand how that works.

If you posted a link from someone on twitter saying that Biden plans to strike Iran tomorrow & invade...I would not then say "Sombear you seem to like Biden invading Iran!"

ps.

The question is still out there....how many duel citizens are in Congress? Are there any? And if so how many?

The Irish need all the help they can get... if the native Irish coalesced to forcibly remove migrants from their island would the United States send financial and military aid like we do w/ Israel or bomb them into extinction like we did with the Serbs in the 90ties?

It was easy to assume when you led with "Awkward" in response to my post saying I was unaware of any dual-Israelis based on Israeli birth or IDF service.

You example is flawed. I was not saying you had an opinion. I said it was clear what the tweeter (is that the right word?) intended. And you posted the tweet. Perhaps you were just making a public service announcement regarding disloyal Jews.

Again, I named one, Cruz. I am unaware of any others. The tweet you posted said 99% of them are Jew dual-Israelis.

BTW, I'm guessing there are some dual citizens. A lot of our military has kids overseas of course, and obviously immigrant families. I just think we'd know (from the usual suspects . . .) if there were dual Israelis.

Yes, talking about criteria for citizenship, and the guy obviously fell short of that merely packing medical kits as a volunteer.

I think it's a bit silly, but, no, I don't have a problem with it. Allies used to (and still do to some extent) practice such symbolism regularly, for example, WW2 allies flying each other's flags, etc. It's a non-issue to me. One can be strongly pro-American and strongly support our allies, and if they want to resort to silly (in my view) gestures, so be it.

But I do have a problem with are passive aggressive tweets with zero substance behind them, and with folks who post them without conducting the most rudimentary verification. Seriously, why not just say it was a bad and misleading tweet? It happens. Twitter is a cesspool and we all make mistakes.
