My email to President Trump earlier today advising him against endorsing John Cornyn in the runoff election against Ken Paxton.

President Trump,

As a 4th generation Texan and a close follower of issues for decades, I would strongly advise you against endorsing John Cornyn is his runoff election against Ken Paxton. I say this from my recollection of actions by both men over time with respect to you and Texas.

I would remind you sir that John Cornyn was in a leadership position in the Senate under then Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Other than their outstanding work in getting your Judicial appointments approved through the Senate, I recall both of them being a thorn in your side on many issues of importance to you during your first term. Cornyn was always willing to advance the proposition of amnesty in regards to the illegals who broke into our country as their first act. This of course left a bad taste in many of us Texas voters and citizens mouths who felt the consequence of the flood of illegals crossing our border through more and more money being allocated to support these illegals and feeling the effects of the higher crime perpetuated by these folks who should not be here in the first place.

In addition he took votes proposed by democrats that would have watered down our 2nd amendment rights which us Texans hold so dear. We know that any erosion of these gun rights specified in the U.S. Constitution are a slippery slope leading to the eventual confiscation of our guns which many of us believe would spell the end of our Republic.

Both of these acts by John Cornyn proved to millions of Texans that he is UNWORTHY of representing our State as he was willing to sell us out on principles our forefathers had fought and died for! This was a bridge too far for many, many Texans and we have long memories for issues like these.

In contrast, Ken Paxton may face some personal issues, but has been steadfast in his conservative principles throughout his public life and has supported you, Mr. President, and the MAGA movement since its inception.

Therefore, I would advise you to endorse Ken Paxton if you are to endorse anyone in this Senate race. If you do not wish to endorse Paxton, then I would strongly urge you to stay on the sidelines and let us Texas voters decide this one for ourselves. My belief is that an endorsement of Cornyn will anger much of your MAGA base here in Texas.

I share these remarks as one of your biggest fans President Trump.

May God Bless,

At the end of Paxton's trial in the Texas Senate, he was going to be convicted. Lt Gov Patrick flipped 2 senators from guilty to not guilty & Paxton was acquitted. The repercussions of Patrick's actions are being felt

I believe it takes two thirds of the senate to vote for impeachment in order for that to take place. Since Paxton's wife at the time was a sitting senator, she could not vote leave 30 votes. Therefore 20 votes were necessary to convict Paxton on each Article of Impeachment. Most if not all garnered 14 votes to convict leaving 16 votes to not convict on each Article which would be six short of what they needed, not two.

Before Patrick's intervention there were 20 votes to convict. When the 2 votes flipped the other Republicans caved.
We wouldn't be here but for Patrick

Actually , Trump's endorsement of Cornyn is a good thing. The Trump Lapdog vs. The My Way or the Highway Serial Philanderer. Not a difficult decision at all. If The barBEARian is supporting Paxton, then Cornyn is the right choice.

But once again, we need younger candidates. I think Cornyn is 74.

P.S.- Go Boomers!
Call it a tax, the people are outraged! Call it a tariff, the people get out their checkbooks and wave their American flags!!!

Politics is such a nasty business. Case in point is the SAVE Act. Thune is using the excuse that if tries to bring that bill to the Floor the democrats will filibuster and tie the senate up where nothing gets done. This is totally disingenuous because the reality is that quite a few Republicans are against that bill because special interest money is for the status quo and does not want this bill to pass. Among those who are against this bill is John Cornyn supposedly. So the Republicans have to not bring the bill to the Floor because it would show some members are willing to sell the country out in favor of the special interests and this would be evident to the world after they voted no on the bill. And we wonder why common sense things do not get accomplished anymore! Nowadays it is rare when things get done for the right reasons, when in earlier times we could count on it.

Which leads me to my note to President Trump where I was appalled that he would consider endorsing John Cornyn, who had disparaged him numerous times years earlier and taken votes against Trump policies as well, while Paxton has always been in his corner. I am still baffled by this endorsement possibility. To me he would be alienating his own MAGA base here in Texas if he took that action.

Just one man's perspective.

Now do JD Vance. And Marco Rubio. And Ted Cruz. What's your special hardon for Cornyn vs all the others that dumped on Trump in the past but now don't?

Because Cornyn pretended to be conservative around election time, but never voted that way on many occasions. And many of his bad votes in the senate affected me as a Texan so I hold it against him.
