Do we really think that Talrico wants to spend less? I doubt that very much.
The system in Washington - the accounting, the auditing, their "close enough for jazz" budgeting non-process, the money lobbying, the money laundering, the bloat - totally runs counter to fiscal responsibility and efficiency.
The constant cries of what is being done to "the people" in streamlining government entities is the enemy to getting a balanced budget. The cries are serious crocodile tears shed only to convince voters to keep voting incumbents into office. The best interest of the people would be for the federal government to limit its scope. It is entirely too big to keep up with itself. Federalism isn't centralized government. It is allowing state and local governments to do what they do best. A republic isn't a legislative body abdicating its responsibility to an executive on all difficult decisions that MIGHT make a representative less popular in a short term. An electorate isn't a real boss until it is willing to vote out representatives who are poor at representing their will.
Trump was voted in to shake up the system. Congress is still not on board, it seems, to make substantial changes the law of the land. If this four years fails, and democrats gain back the executive, the fiscal house will fall.
I am thinking seriously of joining up to volunteer with the people who want a convention of states. I don't see any other way to get power put back in its rightful place.
