Another vision attributed to Anne Catherine Emmerich speaks of black people having originated from Ham in the book of Genesis who was cursed for his wickedness, for which he received a black "mark" on his skin:

"The nobler races were always of a lighter color. They who were distinguished by a a particular mark engendered children of the same stamp; and as corruption increased, the mark also increased until at last it covered the whole body, and people became darker and darker. But yet in the beginning there were no people perfectly black; they only became so only by degrees." - Life of Jesus, by Anne Catherine Emmerich

You missed the point (no surprise there)

It just shows that she had a history of making up stuff to support "doctrines" when in reality she is just supporting & expressing her own nasty views of people that she doesn't like and/or disagree with her. She should definitely appeal to a leftist like yourself. Generating false "evidence" to attack people you hate.... right up your ally.

I don't hate my separated brethren at all. I sometimes worry about where their erroneous beliefs are leading them and perhaps leading the nation.

Jesus created one Church through Peter and it continues today through Leo XIV.

You many dispute that. You may not like it. You may belong to a spinoff.

That's ok.

It isn't. Deep down, they know. Pride and tribe are extremely hard to get over. Imagine how hard it is for a generational democrat to become a conservative. Regardless, answering and defeating falsehood is beneficial for others, if not for the ones you're debating against. Christians should stand up for the truth. They can't be a lamp that is lit and then put under a basket.

We're talking to people who accept the authority of a church that tells them that Marian apparitions, which command them to build churches in her honor and to establish world-wide devotion to her "Immaculate Heart" in order for sinners to be saved, is from God. What's blatant racism going to do to dissaude them?

They are truly lost and need our prayers.

Why go down that road?

When Jesus was transfigured on the mount, Peter suggested building three tents, one for Jesus one for Moses and one for Elijah.

Jesus shot that down quick.

Think about why.

Same lesson.

Just like the other thread, you refuse to answer anyone's questions, especially mine. You respond with questions over and over again.

The Church evaluates and approves apparitions as 'worthy of belief,' not as dogma. So your whole setup assumes something false about Catholic/Orthodox ecclesiology.

You still haven't answered my question, which was actually the point. You're asserting these people are substituting Mary for Christ in their hearts. You're damning over a billion people to hell, asserting that they're not real Christians.

73% of evangelicals say Jesus is the first and greatest being created by God and 55% say the Holy Spirit is a force rather than a person. https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/state-theology-2022/

Damn near 3/4 of all evangelicals are holding to Arianism and don't even realize it. They hold functionally Arian positions, deny the full divinity of the Son and the personhood of the Spirit…yet many of them confidently accuse Orthodox and Catholics of Mariolatry.

If you reject that there's a fixed body of doctrine to be transmitted and that the Church has authority to define and guard it….then you're going to reject catechism. That's how you get congregations full of people who don't understand the Holy Trinity.

I agree with Sam.

I like reading these debates, sometimes for insights into the topic and sometimes for insight into the posters. People often have an emotional investment in their own opinion, and do not like having to reconsider it in light of exposition and debate. And some simply carpet-bomb threads with repeated assertions lacking substance.

I fear almost all of us are guilty at one time or another of automatic emotional reactions, especially in matters of faith.

Oops.

I mean if that doesn't give her street cred with you white Christian nationalists, tell me what does.

Ah so you think in their hearts that they truly think Mary saves them instead of Jesus?

Do you know in their hearts that they don't?

Regardless, that isn't even the point. Is that message from God? I know you have difficulty giving direct answers to questions, but what is your answer?

Doc? Cat got your tongue?

Ok, Doc bailed. I turn this question to the Roman Catholics - Freedom, Coke, Sam, Florida, Kai, et al? Is this message from God?

I've already bailed, but not because I couldn't answer your questions. I and others have answered them many times.

No, you never could, and never did. You may have typed a response, but it was never an answer. It was just your usual avoidance games. Maybe we can demonstrate it to this forum with this question here. The answer to the question I'm posing to you is no more than three letters long. No, or yes: are the messages from purported Marian apparitions in question, which commanded a church to be built in her honor, and that world-wide devotion to her "Immaculate Heart" be established for the forgiveness of sins, from God?

I've given my answer: NO.

What say you?

I don't find these debates productive and don't want to get drawn in. That's not to say I don't learn from many of the posts here. But there's a kind of semantic barrier between the two sides that makes any mutual understanding extremely difficult.

Sam has elected to dodge, which is no surprise.

What about you other Roman Catholics? What say you?

Folks, there is no "semantic barrier" to the following question:

Is the appartion's message to build churches in Mary's honor and to establish world-wide devotion to her "Immaculate Heart" for the forgiveness of sins from God? Yes, or no?

Either you believe that message came from God, or you don't. There is no "semantic barrier" to simply answering, "Yes, I believe it's from God", or "No, I do not believe it's from God." It's just another one of their lame excuses.

Folks, see how they can't just simply answer it? A true Christian should have NO PROBLEM answering this question. What does that tell you?

I agree with Sam.

I like reading these debates, sometimes for insights into the topic and sometimes for insight into the posters. People often have an emotional investment in their own opinion, and do not like having to reconsider it in light of exposition and debate. And some simply carpet-bomb threads with repeated assertions lacking substance.

I fear almost all of us are guilty at one time or another of automatic emotional reactions, especially in matters of faith.

The only conclusions I draw from such a poll:

1. Polls are often unreliable, especially when dealing with deep political, philosophical, or theological issues.
2. Polls do not always represent the general group being polled.
3. The question seems to be a loaded question and I suspect some of the answers were by people who did not fully understand it or the implications. Or maybe they forgot the first verses of the John's gospel.
4. I doubt any real Christians believe in this heresy. How many are nominal Christians who don't really understand the basic doctrines of the faith? How many are non-Christian's trolling the pollsters? How many misunderstood the question? Probably mostly the latter.
5. Polls don't always prove or establish their claims.

At least I hope that's the case. Regardless, God knows what is in everyone's heart. He knows each of us better than we know ourselves.

I don't think you did. What I do remember is you always dodging questions like these. Sorry, if I'm going to call out the Roman Catholics for dodging the question, I'm gonna have to call you out too.

If you did answer such a question, then remind us: what was your answer?

Here we go.... the usual "you're a mean bully, so I'm not going to answer" game that's always played in order to get out of answering a question, when I'm not even being a mean bully. Critical of you, yes, but not "snide, rude, or abusive".

The objective, rational person reading this thread doesn't see it the way you do. They see it as you conjuring up lame excuses in order to get out of answering.

So... OldBear has also dodged the question like Sam. What say the rest of you? Dodging the question is quite revealing, folks.

You're out here straight up calling people pagans and idol worshippers. These people really love Christ man.

I'm not denying that you can't be saved because of your theology, but you're doing that to us.

Me: "What is your answer to my question?"
OldBear: "I answered you long ago on these points."
Me: "I don't think you did. What I do remember is you always dodging questions like these. Now show me exactly where and how I was "snide", "rude", "abusive", or "unchristian" in any of that. Show me where he answered this question. ASK him to show you, because he won't answer if I challenge him to do so. I'll save you the trouble - he never has, and never will. I can point you to exactly where he constantly dodges questions like these, just like I had said. What he calls an "answer" was just more bobbing and weaving to avoid answering. A tactic that is all too common in these threads, sadly. But a tactic that is revealing.

So go ahead and show me. I'll be waiting.

If "these people really love Christ" and aren't supporting pagan idol worshiping.... then why are they having such difficulty answering the question whether a blatantly idolatrous and heretical message from an apparition, which diminishes Jesus in favor of Mary, is from God or not? Wow, with "love for Jesus" like that, I'm sure Jesus really would hate to see what their "hate" looks like.

You are what you show yourself to be.

And let's not forget that you also never answered the quesiton either. What's your answer? Yes, that message is from God, or no, it isn't?

WHY is this question so difficult for you guys to answer?

Q: Is the message from the marian apparitions which command a church be built in her honor and to establish world-wide devotion to HER "Immaculate Heart" for the forgiveness of sins a message from God, or not?

Seems pretty easy for someone who claims to be a Christian who "loves Jesus" to answer this.

Folks, again.... what does it tell you when they can't/won't answer this? Shouldn't their views on Christianity not be trusted? Shouldn't then their church from which they are getting their views be doubted as being from God? I believe if you are true Christian, you know the answer.

It's a combination of Guadalupe and Fatima. And actually, it doesn't even matter. Even if I completely made it up, the very fact that they can't answer the question is what's revealing.
