Would this incident have even taken place if the Minn state and city politicians supported the federal government? Isn't it more reasonable to say Minn state and city politicians are the proximate cause of this violence and the result here is merely the cause of their effect?

Modern protesting results in violence in many cases. Shame on the agitators, shame on the state police for not containing them to an area for their safety, shame on both sides politically for not toning it down, shame on the police agents for not having more restraint.
I will wait for more details before deciding whether the shoot was justified or not.

I consider myself a true classical liberal. I don't know what these leftist extremists are anymore. I don't think they even know.
For me, I am all for deporting those undocumented persons who have convictions for serious crimes. For those who don't and have been here awhile, give them a pathway to legal residency. But no pathway to citizenship unless they move out and then come back in the right way.
That can be the penalty for not doing it the right way to begin with.
But that way, we can protect our borders, allow people in who want to assimilate, avoid the exploitation of labor, and protect our democracy from either party importing voters from other countries.

Here is what i found regarding this... While conducting the operation, a man approached "U.S. Border Patrol officers with a 9mm semiautomatic handgun."
Officers tried to disarm the man but he "violently resisted."
A photo released by DHS and published by CNN shows the 9mm handgun which was found at the scene where federal agents in Minneapolis shot the armed man.
