The GOP is run by fools.

I'm hoping Ashley can pull it off. It's a shame Republicans will be spending >$100 million in Texas instead of Maine, Michigan, or Iowa

What is wrong with MTG?? Does she want illegals to flood into the US again? Does she want another Dem crime wave?

It appears all she has is TDS and she grows more irrelevant with each silly post.

Either way, the result is the same. The Dems, who think more like the IRGC when it comes to Trump and US foreign policy, than like the rest of America. They hate America as much as the Iranians and they want many Americans dead. Their hatred for Jews and Israel is also similar to that of Iran's leaders. Many Dems want Iran to win the war!

It's the stupid party vs the evil party.

Contemporary American politics provide many reasons to return to the republican form of government the Founders created for us with significant limits to federal powers.

Good point. Maybe the old cliche is correct…

Dems historically win vote by mail by supermajority margins. If current trends hold, how will they make up the deficit?

Other fascinating questions are begged here. What is the explanation for the lag in VBM among a putatively energized Dem base? Are the voters who have not requested ballots planning to vote on Election Day? How will the Dems mount a massive voter turnout machine given their funding shortfalls? (And what explains their funding shortfalls?)

It would be interesting to see if the midterm outlook would be even stronger in favor of the Republicans if one or both of the following had happened:

1. Tariffs: had DT gone to our "friends" first and addressed the tariff inequities with them, letting them know that even Democrats in our country have noted over the decades how we're getting rooked. Let them know that they can sit down and balance this thing out or we're going to plan B, which they might not like. Work it out with them and if they don't play ball slam them along with all the rest. Don't just slam everyone at the outset. I mean, I know they all deserved it, but scalpel over sledgehammer to begin with IMHO. I know it was an attempt to regain equity and help the economy, but I think a scalpel would have been better to start with. With our "friends" anyway.
2. Iran: they took out those sites early on in his presidency; leave it at that for the time being since they were telling us that Iran had been severely set back by those attacks on their nuclear sites. Focus on the home economy. (Which I know the tariffs were intended to help with). Then return to Iran if that's what he felt was necessary to do.

3. Borders: no comment; this has been handled fine. Again, even the Dems, including their savior, BO, said securing the border had to be done. The only reason ICE has been marginalized is because of the agitators, not protestors. ICE is enforcing the law and they have a right to do so without being attacked or gotten in the way of. You FA with law enforcement, and you will FO. And that's what happened in a couple of cases. It's the agitators who just didn't like DT who started that melee. And made it worse than it had to be. They were the problem, not ICE. I was a teacher during the BO administration and saw one of my kids excused from class because her dad was being deported. We were told as teachers to monitor our kids and their emotions because some very well might be impacted. And they were. Where were the agitators when BO was doing it? Had DT been president at the time there would have been agitators outside our school gates. But not with BO they weren't. There was no melee to be found, even though a lot of people were being deported at the time.

All of this happening at once, in the first two years, has given the opposing side things to criticize and get everyone worked up over. Even though there was a method behind all of the actions. Have to give DT credit for having the guts to do it, even though he knew it could get everyone worked up. Even though the border and the tariff situation are things that the Dems have said needed to be fixed. No one had the guts to do it until DT.

With Ds 18 years into their well funded Voter Registration surge and Rs 5 years into their well funded responding Voter Registration surge, will be interesting to watch the impact on Swing states and districts…….particularly Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and North Carolina.

The poll modeling being used has failed to properly account (both ways) for the impact of the surges in registration beginning in 2008.

My sense is that it is unlikely GOP can save the House, but that they are still likely to hold the Senate.

Taking 10 of the 22 truly competitive HOR seats is tough in the current environment but not sure that I would jump to "unlikely" this early. The key 5-7 seats are likely to swing 1-3% (either way) based on events which have not yet occurred.

From National Review:

If Paxton loses, he is going to become a human blame thrower; his defeat will be everyone's fault but his John Cornyn, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, President Trump. If he can find a way to blame the Dallas Cowboys, he'll blame them, too.

There's really only one word to describe Ken Paxton: Sleazy

Agreed. GOP will find it difficult to win a majority of the tossup House seats in this kind of environment. They' should win a third of them though. The question is how far beyond that can they go (the answer bombing probably not far enough to hold on. That said, here we see Matt Towery, one of the most accurate pollsters of the Trump era, leaving the porch light on. The key part of his comments is the one about Indy turnout. No question they will break left. But how many will show up? Lots of evidence they are not boiling out in protest.
