It seems that every election year the GOP candidates in statewide races are behind in the polls and end up winning in November, often by sizable margins. It's been this way for 30 years and there is no reason to think it will be different now.

-Panhandle - Data Centers no one wants.
-West Texas - A border wall through Big Bend no one wants
- East Texas - a water grab by a billionaire that no one wants
This is the best of Texas and it’s being invaded, exploited, disrespected.

It bans synthetic intoxicants while giving naturally derived products a short extension.
That’s common sense, and it gives Congress and the Administration time to negotiate a more substantial bill.

I don't think we've seen in it Texas in a while. I don't expect to see any of these seats flip blue...but Paxton and others need to keep their guard up.
Not sure about accuracy...but I asked Claude when is the last time a Texas democrat candidate for senate or governor led in the polls prior to Election Day...and this is what it came up with:
The most recent confirmed instance is 1990, in Ann Richards' race for governor against Clayton Williams.
Williams led for most of the campaign by as much as 20-27 points over the summer but the race tightened after his infamous "relax and enjoy it" rape comment and revelations he'd skipped paying state income taxes one year. By late October 1990, a KTRK-TV (Houston ABC affiliate) poll had Richards ahead by 3 points, even as a Williams internal poll still showed him up 7. Richards went on to win narrowly on Election Day, November 6, 1990.
Texas hasn't elected a Democrat to any statewide office since 1994.
In 2018, Beto O'Rourke came within 2.6 points of Ted Cruz the closest a Democrat has come to winning a Texas Senate seat in decades but polling from April through July 2018 had Cruz leading O'Rourke in every survey.
Other notable Democratic runs since 1990 (Ann Richards' 1994 re-election bid, Tony Sanchez 2002, Wendy Davis 2014) all trailed throughout their campaigns and lost by wide margins.
So barring some obscure down-to-the-wire poll I haven't turned up for a later race, 1990 appears to be the last time.
To those hyping the polls showing a Talarico lead over Paxton, adding that "Beto never led Ted Cruz in 2018." Yes, he did. https://t.co/P56tfF8QbT

Meanwhile, the governor of Massachusetts recently signed into law a bill that authorized the murder of babies in the womb on the due date. The Leftists want to kill as many babies as possible! In their minds, the American Holocaust must continue indefinitely.
I suspect Jimmie's radical views on the subject is closer to that of the killers in Massachusetts than the saner views of most Texans.
