After reading through the first page, I had some thoughts. First, the OP is not entirely correct, there is definitely a sort of rabid hatred that many on the left share for Trump. I think Trump has done everything in his power to inspire that rabid hatred, but quite often I see articles (not on this forum, others) linked from places like Washington Post, or Salon, which have such little basis in reality, and could only be written and read/liked by people with unbelievable amounts of hatred, so much that it clouds every bit of their natural good sense and judgement.
On the other hand, there were at least 3 posters on the first page that I noticed, who rushed to say that there is plenty of civil discourse, who were the exact ones seemingly incapable of it. If you are going to use TDS to describe rabid hatred, sure. If you are going to use it to call someone a name, then it's not valid, and name calling like that always gets in the way of civil discourse.
If someone has a point, and some attempt at evidence, then anyone claiming TDS is just BSing out of their keyboards here. I've seen that often from posters like this oldbear guy. He sees an argument, and instead of facing it head on, he tries to figure out a way to reduce it to something so beneath him, all he can do is say "TDS" or "that's evil, I am rebuking evil like the Bible says."
I have just come up with my own acronym for people like him, who will defend Trump at all costs. I think I'm going with ROML.
Rabid
Orange
Man
Love
I'll be using that from now on to combat all the senseless name calling people are vomiting all over this board. Just a light-hearted attempt at sparring with the intellectually dishonest.
