That's literally never how it has worked.
But it probably is how it should work, the exception being Americans living abroad whose vote should certainly count regardless of how long it takes the APO system to deliver it. For everyone else there is no reason we shouldnt simply have voting week with one day being a national holiday so everyone who wants to has the opportunity to vote.

There is really no reason we need to count votes for a week or two or three or however long. FFS this is 2020, I can order a package from Amazon and have it to my house, usually the same day if not the next, there is no reason we cant find a way to vote that doesnt incur 2 hour lines and requires 3 days of counting paper ballots.

And yet Trump was the one blocking the early counting of mail in ballots:
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/522566-trump-campaign-asks-court-to-block-early-vote-counting-in-nevada
I dont care who did it. This is an issue we should all be able to agree upon. Elections dont need to drag out for days. I believe voting should be done in person, with identification and Im not sure why that is so controversial, however, I dont much care what the method it doesnt need to take a month to figure this out. Early voting, vote by mail, in person...whatever, there's just no reason in 2020 this takes so much time and energy.

Im very much over all of the drama and conspiracy theories.

If Trump wins GA, NC, PA and NV he would be at 273.

Need a hard deadline For every state to have postmarked. Like oct 31. Or week before election for mail in ballots. So everything is counted Election Day. When the media has a bias against a candidate like we have seen this cycle it raises doubts about the validity of the process.

What a mess. I was dead wrong about PA deciding the race. Looks like it will now be decided by MI and WI. Re: AZ...Maybe John McCain's thumb will be the difference , again.... I think my fear of a Court battle is looking more likely. I have to say that the Trump support is dayum strong, as evidenced not only by the posters on this message board , but also by the huge vote count he's received from millions of honest , hard working Americans. If Trump wins after all the electoral college votes are counted, that's the way the system works. Hail to the Chief. The nasty fight, as we ALL know, will be over the votes themselves....I actually feel a little sad for both sides...not only for this mess, but also for what may lie ahead in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead for our Country . May God Bless The United States, and each and every one of you citizens expressing your opinions.

What's fascinating to me is that this prediction of a blue wave have certainly proved to be tall tales. We had Nancy declaring that the House Dems would pick up seats, and instead it appears the Repubs are going to gain seats. Schumer and company (and all the polls) were predicting that the Senate was lost. Well. sorry again. They may gain 1 seat at the end of the day. And then of course, pretty much every poll and every strategist was predicting a significant Biden victory. And instead, the race is neck and neck. I give Biden the edge because of Wisconsin and probably Michigan, but not by much. It's going to be razor thin.

Long and the short of it is all of the pollsters and pundits have been wrong yet again. Even if Biden wins, he does not have the mandate to make the wholesale changes his handlers desire. He's not going to have full support of Congress, and there will be significant blow back for the Dems if they try to ram things through by executive order. So, I suspect his Green New Deal as written and the court packing are now out the window. So there is a significant silver lining if Trump loses. Things are not nearly as dire as predicted. And despite the prognostications by our resident leftists, the state of the Republican Party despite Trump is still strong.

A. Poll accuracy is irrelevant. Power is all that matters, whether you win by 1% or 7%.
B. Mandates are unimportant....the winners always declare they have a mandate .
C. The Hispanic vote was huge in California, New Mexico, and Arizona. Growing in Texas, Colorado and Nevada. Dems know a successful strategy when they see one....immigration will be wide open.
D. The Republican Party has to evolve, embracing Hispanic leadership or will be finished as a national political party within 12 years .
E. Demographics don't lie.

Lots of Hispanics voted for Trump. Covid may be the main reason for Trump defeat.

Trump now losing in MI with 94% of votes counted. And he's still behind in WI with 95% in. Doesn't bode well for him.

I disagree. Without a resounding victory and a Senate controlled by Republicans, they're going to have to compromise.

We probably fought off a SC stacking, more states to overwhelm the Senate and a very far left new SC if one retires.

I would be interested in the results of the in person voting results in toss up states.
I suspect Trump won that where it is more difficult to cheat.
I also suspect Biden won the mail in vote where it is easier to ballot harvest.

he has to have one of them or NV... None of them look good for Trump.

Declare you have stopped counting for the night and then have a 138,000+ vote ballot dump in the middle of the night that went 100% to Biden, nothing off about that...

I told my brother when he was touting the polls that I didn't think there'd be a landslide either way because the country was too evenly divided. This election would definitely support that.

I think the results of this election (presidential and congressional) could be a good thing if Biden and the Democrats can take a conciliatory tone and recognize that this election is not the referendum on Trump they believed it would be.

This country is deeply divided, and it's time for leaders in both parties to do their part to mend it.

I wish it would happen but I really dont think that Pelosi, Schumer or McConnell have the balls to stand up to the AOC group or the far right and work together. It will take others to stand up and take over leadership to work together. It would be four years of the media blaming the Republican senate for everything... just like it always is. They will NEVER hold Democrats accountable if their is a Republican scapegoat they can use to manipulate all the f***ing idiots in this country.

At this point they are trying to rob the silent majority and install a 47 year career politician back in office to continue scamming and selling out the American people.

This opinion might hold more weight if McConnell didn't openly brag about being a roadblock.

The Democrats have their own *******s (Pelosi and Schumer, I'm looking at you), but you guys have to own McConnell and the significant role he's played in creating and perpetuating the toxic political environment we're lamenting in this thread.

You may be right, but with Trump no longer in the WH stoking the flames, perhaps they will come to their senses. It just all depends on whether TDS has lasting effects, or whether the effects will wear off and some sense of normalcy will return.
