Gameday Thread: Baylor Welcomes Arizona State to Waco for Prime Time Big 12 Showdown

Pretty sure most have blocked me; however, for those that haven't you've got to face the fact Baylor isn't a good football team for some time now. There are so many moving parts as to why BU constantly suck. Six wins will be the High point, it'll be a struggle. It's. Just. Not. Going. To. Change.

Josh Cameron cost us this game. Pretty sure his 3 TO's weren't part of the game plan. Yes, there are uninspired, predictable play calls, yes, our coach (and QB) made a few dumb decisions and yes our D let them out of some huge holes, but without those turnovers we win this game even all the above and the injuries.

I still enjoy watching CFB. But it's getting incredibly hard to watch Baylor. It's so damn easy to predict how these games are going to turn out. Mack needs to pull the plug. Dave isn't it. This team should be 1-3. Think about that. This is after Dave told us all how great this team was

We'll beat the **** out of Oklahoma State. And we'll likely handle a bad K-State team, too.

But those games don't really matter. We'll lose the big ones and go 7-5 or 8-4.

You can pencil in TCU and Utah as losses now.

I talked about this with an Alumni friend the other day, but if we're really at this point that we can't afford a small buyout for a crap coach and can't bring in better talent, we need to move to a lesser conference where we can compete. Winning six games in the modern big 12 just isn't that impressive. Our current team would be a five, maybe six win team at best in this conference 15 years ago. Imagine having Oklahoma, Texas, A&M, Texas Tech, Missouri, or Nebraska on the schedule versus the mid teams we're facing

Where did I say we are "good enough?" I said we are on the same level as pretty much any team in the conference. Which we showed tonight be playing last season's champs even. We'll probably show it again next week when we play a dead-man walking oSu close, despite the fact that we should woodshed them.

Dave has just made us so irrelevant. The big 12 isn't that great; we have the talent to win, it's just that he doesn't coach people up, can't gain plan, doesn't bring anything to the table

I think most of us want to see consistency and execution on the field. I keep seeing multiple peaks and valleys all 4 quarters starting with our rebuild last year. This team is consistently jeckyl and Hyde. Our offense is a lot better with Spavs schemes and his ability to qb coach. His calls are questionable every game. But our offense is not clean nor a well oiled machine.

The D is the biggest issue. Dave is the coach and him and papa Mack need to bring in a legit DC because this is not working.

The B12 sucks.. Dave is just ass as a coach. Anyone with a brain sees that.

It feels like it's been 60. Has anybody else just gotten completely apathetic about the state of modern college football over the last two or three years? I totally understand guys wanting to get paid, but the whole pay for play system combined with having a coach that acts like he's on Ambien and sucks at most things that he was supposed to be good at has just eroded my interest in the sport. I'll check the score for our games but I couldn't tell you that whT hardly any other team has done today, because we are just so irrelevant it doesn't matter

This is his 5th season. I've lost count of how many OC and DC he has gone through. He is not a head coach by anyones vision.

Here's my ten things, if I can think of ten.

Quality loss to defending conference champs

Not currently fighting the horrible traffic management out of McLane while the big money people in really nice cars get let out for the first hour.

No I-35 bullcorn or construction mess.

Uniforms were nice.

Great quality resolution and color on the big TV on beautiful real network TV, no streaming!

I managed to not break anything while watching the game. It was a challenge.

Only gave away one cheap field goal. Who needs three points anyway?

My little cheap TV recorder I just hooked up last night worked really well. Now I gotta delete that schiff.

Nobody was shot.

Didn't even have to use my AK.

When that was mentioned, I was trying to think who we might beat. OSU? K State? We dont play Colorado. Cincy maybe? Maybe closer to 5-7?

Avery Johnson blows. He's an inaccurate passer, and he's not even a particularly good runner.

Their offense is bad, and they're not as good defensively as they usually are. I think we win that one by two scores.

The issue is from my eye Az St looked decent but nothing more. Auburn looked okay but they might just be average. Dave struggles against anyone with a pulse

You also just described ASU… and we lost that game. I'll believe it when I see it. I have no faith in Dave. He's going to find a way to **** the bed in one of the OSU, KSu, UCF games. He's a **** coach, that'll tear its ugly head

I had us going 7-5 with an 8-4 ceiling, but if Sawyer is not going to be a threat to run whatsoever (and for whatever reasons), then I would take that victory total down 1 or 2 games for both projected and ceiling.

If you were a legit DC would you chance coming knowing the HC may not be long or damaging your reputation by association? A move somewhere probably wouldn't be a lateral.

Arizona State didn't lose to Army and Arizona and almost lose to North Dakota.

Kansas State's body of work is terrible.

Leavitt is a much, much better player than Johnson. And Arizona State's defense is better than Kansas State's is.

K-State is a very poor man's Arizona State.

A six-game conference win streak is good regardless who you're playing. And we beat two eight-win teams and a Kansas team that was as hot as anyone in the Big 12 at the time of our game.

Dave gets credit for that.

But he also gets blame for putting us in a hole every season and in every game. You can't keep asking college-aged players to climb out of holes. Eventually your will breaks or you run out of luck.

They lost to a miss st team who's going to finish near the bottom of the SEC. I'll just disagree. ASU imo isn't a god team and I think by seasons end they'll be something like 7-5. I have seen nothing to tell me KSU is an auto win. Dave is now under .500 in B12 play at home

People are going to point to the SMU win this year as some kind of skin on the wall for Dave when they never should've been ranked and will probably finish as a six or seven win team in the ACC

Kansas State is not a team we should lose to. Our talent level is better and we're not dragging around the stink that program is after the start it's gotten off to.

Arizona State is as talented as we are. And they're one coverage bust from being undefeated. They're not a great team, but they're a good one.

I'm not a sunshine pumper by any means. And if that's what you're getting out of this, it's only because you're a doomer.

I think we're a mediocre program with a mediocre coach. But we're still better than a number of the teams remaining on our schedule, and the next two would certainly fall in that category.

If we lose either of those games, Dave Aranda should be forced to answer for them. Those would be bad losses.

I never once said I expected to win this game.

I said it would be a close game between two similarly talented teams, which it was. I don't ever predict wins in these types of games under Dave Aranda.

But I also don't predict blowouts to good teams or losses to bad ones because I'm sad ... like so many others here do.

Most of our remaining games will be close. We'll lose a few we should win, win a couple we should lose and finish 7-5 or 8-4. That's the Dave Aranda experience.
