Gameday: No. 20 Baylor opens B4A against VCU

The Baylor men's basketball team will open the Battle 4 Atlantis on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. CT against VCU and will be aired live on ESPN2. The meeting between the Bears (3-0) and the Rams (3-0) is the fourth ever matchup for the programs.

Dan Dakich doing the commentary. He doesn't like Drew (at least he didn't 4-5 years ago). But as a diehard IU guy, I bet he secretly wishes that Drew was their coach (he would never admit that). Drew ain't losing to Fort Wayne or whatever that was.

He's been surprisingly positive about BU so far, we'll see during the game. He's tough to watch sometimes and you are correct, in the past he's been very anti Baylor & Drew for some reason.

ESPN will be doing a segment on BU's zone at halftime.

KU's front court is down this year. A KU friend who is a diehard mentioned this at the beginning of the season but I thought it was typical KU talk. I think their frontline was outscored 30-3 by one Georgia player last night. Their backcourt is one of, if not the best in the country but Baylor has a big advantage inside. We have a good chance at home but they still have Lawrence.

Lets see how we do this week before those expectations happen. If we do better guarding the perimeter I'll feel a lot better and today is a big test w/ VCU's shooters.

nervous about this one- East Coast kids are usually tough minded.

They have 6 guys who contribute heavily who are juniors, seniors or redshirt seniors. Lots of experience. Came very close to knocking off Oklahoma last year in the NCAA tourney (85-81).

They lost their best player (17ppg) plus their 3rd leading scorer.

Lewis is their best returning player but his Assts/gm have gone from 5.1 to 1.7 which shows he might not have as much help on the offensive side. They haven't played anyone and their leading scorer has been out the past 2 games so I'm sure that also has a lot to do w/ it.

I think if we can get by their first physical punch and get a lead we should be fine, but if we give them confidence they will be scrappy.
