Gameday: No. 20 Baylor opens B4A against VCU

The Baylor men's basketball team will open the Battle 4 Atlantis on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. CT against VCU and will be aired live on ESPN2. The meeting between the Bears (3-0) and the Rams (3-0) is the fourth ever matchup for the programs.

Was just looking up that stat when Jay Williams mentioned our turnovers. Baylor has averaged 11.3 TO/gm this year. We already have 12 in the 1st half.

VCU is more athletic than I remember them from the Shaka days. Their strategy has not changed. Controlled chaos.

I am looking for our new pg to be much more efficient in the second half.

We need one of guards to calm down, protect the ball, and exaggerate the contact on the outside to get some calls.

We normally make good halftime adjustments.

- If a team only allows you 1 three pt attempt in the half, you better have guys who can blow by their defender and we don't have that, or they haven't tried it until late.

- Spread the floor w/ 4 guys and post up the mismatch. Either put Ish down low or Motley or Maston and everyone else outside

- Acuil can't let guys push him so deep into the zone. He has to man up and stand his ground and not let them catch it 2 feet from the basket.

I'm hoping having our guys back from foul trouble will make a difference but they also get their best big man back so we'll see what happens. Last thing we can afford to do is have a slow start out of halftime like we did vs Oregon & FGCU. This is the first time we've been down by this much so we'll learn a lot about the team this half.

We knew VCU would come out scrappy and hit us in the mouth, doesn't look like we were ready but we caused a bunch of TOs on our own by just mishandling a dribble.

This team is really missing an O'Neale or Prince on the wing. VCU did a good job scouting us. Take out Manu and we're handcuffed on the perimeter. Freeman needs to come through this half if Manu can't get open.

The team only has 3 assts the entire half w/ 12 TOs. You won't beat MCC playing like that.

need to take our toughness pills. We will need to bring the effort in the 2nd half. VCU typically turns it over a lot. Might need to play King, Manu and Chuck together and turn up the defensive pressure. But King and Chuck have to quit making mistakes with the basketball to give Scott the confidence to play them.

Honestly, I like that, don't worry about fouling. It'll force them to call it both ways and I think we can out ft them.

Don't throw the freakin ball if they are overplaying, go backdoor or reverse it. Ish w/ some awful TOs today. Or put the ball on the floor and go around your man. Can't allow VCU to be up in our face like this.
