Its Jalen Jelks DE from Oregon
6'5"256 lbs Oregon

Pre-Draft Analysis
Jelks is a versatile defensive lineman with excellent length but only average top-end speed for an edge-rushing prospect. He's stout for a player with his frame. Jelks shoots his hands inside and locks out. His pursuit angles are inconsistent, but he chases with great effort and plays faster than his timed speed. He's a relentless as a pass-rusher.

Cowboys selected Oregon DE Jalen Jelks with the No. 241 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Jelks (6'5/256) was a two-year starter and four-year contributor on the Ducks' defensive line, graduating with 29.5 career tackles for loss and 15 sacks and earning first-team All-Pac 12 as a senior. PFF College credited Jelks with a conference-high 27 run stops in 2018, and his 41 QB pressures ranked second among Pac 12 edge defenders. Jenks won with length (34 5/8" arms) and motor in college, but his NFL transition was called into question when he ran 4.92 and managed ninth-percentile SPARQ results at the Combine. Lanky, missing functional strength, and short on explosiveness, Jelks' likely ceiling is a situational pass rusher in the Shaq Barrett mold.

And we dont know what is going on with Willis right now. I assume him getting suspended a couple of years ago may be eh key although this past year, he seemed to be a team leader

Cowboys signed North Texas WR Jalen Guyton.
Guyton (6'1/212) originally committed to Notre Dame as a four-star recruit before resurfacing at JUCO, then North Texas for his final two years, where Guyton amassed a career 103/1,580/15 (15.3 YPR) receiving line. Guyton particularly helped himself by ripping up North Texas' Pro Day with a 4.35 forty, 37 -inch vertical, and 6.90 three-cone time. A top-six SPARQ athlete in this year's wide receiver class, Guyton is a deep sleeper whose draft stock might be much stronger had he stayed in South Bend.

Cowboys signed Kansas DT Daniel Wise.
Wise (6'3/281) was a four-year starter on KU's defensive line, seeing action at end and tackle and graduating with 44 career tackles for loss and 18.5 sacks and earning first-team All-Big 12 as both a junior and senior. Wise was exposed as a sub-par athlete at the Combine, however, testing as a 20th-percentile athlete with a molasses-slow 5.27 forty and 27 -inch vertical. A college overachiever with questionable NFL traits, Wise's ceiling is likely a rotational gap shooter on passing downs.

So it appears the McGovern pick is for him to slot into LG next to Smith. Connor Williams will move to RT and Collins will either be traded for a 3rd or better, or we absorb his $9mil cap hit, use him this season and let him walk after that. We would possibly get a 3rd round comp when he leaves.

I dont see any scenario where he stays unless he wants to stay on the very cheap. Doubtful

BTW - the national scene was a lot more positive on the McGovern pick then we were. The kid started onwards from his 5th game as a freshman at Penn State.

Kiper's take. While is often quite wrong, at least he sticks his neck out:

Dallas Cowboys: B-
Top needs: Defensive tackle, wide receiver, safety

The Cowboys got a great rookie season from first-round pick Leighton Vander Esch a year ago, and the defense took a step forward under Rod Marinelli and Kris Richard as they won the NFC East and a wild-card game. But there were still holes, particular at defensive tackle and safety. Remember that Dallas hasn't made the playoffs in consecutive seasons since 2006-07. And with no first-rounder because of the trade for Amari Cooper (Jerry Jones is OK with that deal, no matter what Cooper's new contract look like), it had to fill those needs on Day 2. Did it do that?

I'm not so sure. Defensive tackle Trysten Hill was a reach at No. 58, but I see why Marinelli might like him. He has a great motor and some physical traits, but you wonder why he didn't produce consistently in the AAC. I had a fourth-round grade on him. I would have gone safety with Taylor Rapp, Juan Thornhilland Nasir Adderley still on the board. There was good value with my second-ranked guard Connor McGovern at No. 90, and he could be insurance for Travis Frederick at center, too. The ESPN draft projection system thought highly of him.
Dallas took two running backs on Day 3 -- Tony Pollard (No. 128) and Mike Weber (No. 218) -- and there was a quiet need for someone to spell Ezekiel Elliott. Jalen Jelks (No. 241) flashed top-50 talent but never put it all together. He has measurables that make the seventh round a steal.

To not get a safety until the sixth round made me scratch my head a little bit -- that was such a glaring need. Let me ask you: Did Dallas get any immediate starters here? Cooper doesn't count. Hill is an enigmatic player, and Pollard is more of a luxury pick. I do like taking McGovern and making sure the offensive line stays a strength of the team.

Isn't 15 pressures (more than 1 per game) in one season a lot? What is the average? I thought they would say he only allowed 15 pressures in his career. That would have been an impressive number. Perhaps my idea of a pressure is more significant than the statisticians interpretations.
