Giants coach Ben McAdoo is "hopeful" Odell Beckham (ankle) will be ready for Week 1. Speaking Monday, McAdoo said Beckham has shown "improvement." He has 13 days to get healthy for the Giants' Sunday night opener. We suspect he will be out there against the Cowboys.

I question this report. If he had a tibial plateau fracture as previously reported, that is not an arthroscopic procedure. Here is what that procedure looks like:

I assumed the fracture was discovered via X-ray. Perhaps they fear he also has an ACL tear and want to check it out as well. But I would think they could look at his ACL when they go in to repair the tibial plateau fracture. But I am not a doctor.

Im not a doctor either, but I did stay at my apartment last night!

So in my best medical opinion, there are doctors that work on bone and those that work on soft tissue. As we become more and more specialized, this could be the case.

Or not.

As dad used to say, a specialist is someone that knows more and more about less and less...

Cowboys DID put in a claim for Kony Ealy per beat writer Bryan Broadus. Waaaay too far down the pecking order.

Just thinking about these new, no early cutdown to 53 rules. Doesnt really make sense for Dallas to make their cuts after the Thursday game if they hope to bring a kid back on the PS. You would be giving teams a couple of extra days to analyze him to see if they like him better than their bottom-of-the-NFL-barrel

Ezekiel Elliott's Tuesday appeal hearing will carry over into Wednesday.
We wouldn't read too much into it one way or the other. It's a complicated case that will remain so. Should Elliott lose his appeal, Profootballtalk believes he will take the case to court and seek an injunction that allows him to play as the legal system runs its course. Hopefully we have clarity by this time next week.

Cowboys placed CB Leon McFadden on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, ending his season. McFadden was in the mix for one of the Cowboys' final roster spots. He could be cut loose with an injury settlement once he's back to full health.

NFC East/Toad ex stuff;

Speaking Tuesday, Redskins coach Jay Gruden admitted Josh Doctson's continued missed time is a concern, and that the second-year pro "hasn't done a lot for us."

"We've only had him a year and he hasn't done a lot for us," was Gruden's exact quote. Doctson was held out of Sunday's dress rehearsal with groin and hamstring pain. He's apparently pushing to play in Thursday's preseason finale, but that's unlikely

With LB Anthony Hitchens sidelined with a knee injury, Jerry Jones said the Cowboys will take an "accelerated approach" with Jaylon Smith. Hitchens will undergo a scope to assess the damage in his knee and is out indefinitely. That means "more snaps" for Smith "right off the bat," according to Jones. Smith has played well this preseason, but it would be foolish to put his long-term future at risk by rushing him early in the season.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk believes there is a "very good chance" Ezekiel Elliott plays Week 1.

Elliott's appeal will be heard on Tuesday morning with a decision likely to come in the next week. If the decision does not go his way, Florio believes Elliott will take the case to court, seeking an injunction which allows him to play while the legal situation shakes out. Of course, doing so would make it possible he misses late-season and even potentially playoff games instead of the first six. Even with the appeal today, this saga is far from over.

What is interesting is KLess is still eligible for the practice squad, so you could cut him and get him on the PS once he passes, and he will pass, waivers. I still look for a veteran #2 though.
