By following through on his wishes, the Cowboys save $1.4 million but have a little over $3.8 million in dead money counting against the salary cap, per Over the Cap. Because of that, some may question whether the team would've been better off waiting until June 1 to release Scandrick, considering Dallas would've saved $3 million with nearly $2.3 million in dead money.BearForce said:

a couple of interesting DTs just released that could be interesting:
Bucs released DE Robert Ayers. Ayers had a $1 million roster bonus due on Sunday. His release creates $6 million in cap savings, so this was an easy move. Ayers has seen his sacks decline the last two seasons, but remains a solid run stopper.
Colts released DT Johnathan Hankins. This is largely scheme based with the Colts moving to a Tampa-2 defense. Hankins had a solid first year in Indy, but he didn't do much to improve them against the run. The Colts have one of the best cap situations in the league but save $8.5 million from his release. Hankins won't struggle for interest as the top interior lineman available behind Ndamukong Suh. The Titans and Seahawks are possible landing spots.
Yep. Rob Ryan protege that we kept when Ryan got canned. Thought he might be our next DCBearForce said:Assassin said:

You do know where the Indy DC came from?
Boys designate Scandrick as a post-June 1 release, the Cowboys will get $3 million in salary cap space after June 1 and his $600,000 signing bonus proration will go into next year's cap.Assassin said:By following through on his wishes, the Cowboys save $1.4 million but have a little over $3.8 million in dead money counting against the salary cap, per Over the Cap. Sorry Bryce...
The New York Jets shook up the top of the NFL draft on Saturday morning, completing a blockbuster trade with the Indianapolis Colts that will put them in better position to select a potential franchise quarterback.
The Jets moved up three spots to No. 3, while sending the No. 6 overall pick, two second-round choices this year (Nos. 37 and 49) and their second-rounder in 2019 to the Colts.

BTW - from what I am reading that 2nd would be the Colts own 2nd, #36
no way we can compete with them on salary. I think they headed into FA with over $70 mil under the capBearForce said:Assassin said:

Who is David Irving at #36? That is the danger of playing this game on the tender...the boys better get it right if they take the pick.

And was Irving a flash in the pan? Concerned that he has also been suspended for half a year. Next time will be big. Has to part of the consideration

A few folks that might be around at 36 in D/Edge area; DT Maurice Hurst, UTSA DE Marcus Davenport. Harold Landry DE/OLB.
Davenport would be the disrupt-er I think
Not DL/Edge but a few other folks that could drop to that area depending on how the draft goes:BearForce said:Assassin said:

Another DLaw to me...not an instant starter.

Free agent OT Cameron Fleming will visit the Cowboys on Monday and Tuesday.
If signed, the Cowboys would consider starting Fleming at right tackle and moving La'El Collins back to left guard. Fleming is also drawing interest from the Patriots, who need help at left tackle after losing Nate Solder in free agency.

Yep, looking at Fleming history - not sure he is anything more than spot starter. Swing tackle maybe?BearForce said:Assassin said:

Moving Collins? Somewhere I have heard that thought before...

But he wasnt exactly Chaz Green horrible. Fleming allowed four sacks over 369 snaps between right and left tackle last season.
Pats had him on $1.79 one year deal last season
wonder if they consider him better than Green or Bell? Green cannot slide the left - so he cannot play LTBearForce said:I'd rather draft a OG or OT and flex Collins accordingly.Assassin said:Yep, looking at Fleming history - not sure he is anything more than spot starter.
