The problem is that there are so many variables that go into a transfer QB's decision making that it is difficult to just point to the OC or QB coach and claim that with that one change, everything else would change. The best way to evaluate the decisions of individual QBs is to look at what they say after they commit, but, even then, they are probably going to sugar coat what they say.

As has been discussed endlessly, Baylor's main challenge is the fact that any transfer would not be guaranteed the starting job, and that makes coming here extremely unattractive for any QB that isn't all world where they would know for a virtual 100% certainty that they will be the starter if they transferred to Baylor. Essentially, all of the all world QBs have made their decisions known, so all that is left is Shapen quality QBs* - many of which would likely lose out to Shapen head to head.

*That's not to say that Shapen cannot improve with time and with more experienced RBs and WRs. It's only a reference to the 2022 play.

Also, Michigan classified him as a redshirt senior in 2021 for reasons that are completely unclear.

Another quality transfer QB off the board. Pretty obvious that the staff does not see this as a position of need at this point. I now anticipate Shapen and a couple of low impact lowly recruited walk-on type shoe fillers to be on the roster going into next season. I hope they know what they're doing.

Robertson is the far better talent. Gebbia is a career backup. Robertson was a top-150 national recruit.

That said, I hope we get both.

People have linked Robertson to TCU, but does he really want to go there and be a back up? I think he would win the job here over Shapen

I'd argue Shapen is way more entrenched as a possible starter than Morris.

The bigger difference is TCU has 6 Qbs on their roster (4 once Duggans and Jackson leave) and BU has one. So even though you're fighting an incumbent starter, less overall competition.

Oregon State was very good this year, but Gebbia had almost nothing to do with it. He threw 11 passes all season and has passed for like 1,250 yards in a six-year college career.

I'd be interested to know why these players transfer from successful programs, especially if they were starters or presumed starters for next season.
