Keeping TCU out of a bowl is about the only thing left for Baylor to shoot for. But more likely they will be responsible for getting them bowl eligible.

Kendal Briles sucks at his job. I've been trying to tell people this for years.

Good offensive football is not about scheme or style. It's about execution. No offense works if you can't recruit, develop and coach players to execute within the system.

Art Briles was great (on the field) because he was able to do that, not because his system magically churns out wins. His disciples are all proof that it doesn't.

Same with the Air Raid. Hal Mumme was a brilliant offensive mind, but his teams have all been losers. Mike Leach was successful because he was a better coach than everyone else who has run his offense before or since.
You do know Art Briles won State Titles at Stephenville running his offense, the same offense he ran at Baylor, and that's why Mike Leach hired him.
What are you talking about?

Leach and Briles don't run the same offense -- at all.

I'm saying that Briles is to the veer-and-shoot what Mike Leach is to the Air Raid. They're the best and everyone else is a cheap knockoff. No one else who has coached those two offenses has come close to approaching the success of those two men.

Unless something specific comes up with KB this probably won't come up again for them.

i'll pay for 2 peoples tickets for the tcu baylor game this fall if they make and take signs that say

TCU LOVES BRILES

only question is, will they be told to get rid of them, or be asked to leave.

if the signs make it on tv, its worth it.

Just bring in full body fatheads of art Briles staring across the field at loser fat Pat or on the sideline at Ou hugging his grandkids.

.

Why don't u tell that to all the head coaches that keep trying to hire him

They're hoping for Art but can't speak his name above a whisper.

Wouldn't he be the perfect OC as a step in his redemption?

You have schools that don't even want him on their field AFTER a game as a father-in-law. Why do you think he has any shot in hell of even being an OC? I will be forever grateful for the Art Briles years and the fun it was watching us, but the man is never gonna coach again in college football. I'm not sure why people still think there's a possibility almost 8 years later. There is no redemption. That would have happened years ago.

I wasn't trying to say anything controversial, it's just a fact that Briles was on Leach's staff from 1999 to 2003.

I do have a bone to pick about your comment about Briles disciples. Oklahoma doesn't come from behind with a minute to go and no timeouts and beat Texas without Lebby running Briles concepts.

A big reason we lost the cotton bowl vs msu is because montgomery bounced to tulsa and kb didn't know what he was doing.

Well that and very poor special teams play by us, plus rampant holding by the msu OL.
Exactly. It's never a good thing when you lose your OC before a bowl game. Without question we win that game if montgomery was still on our sideline.

The rest of the stuff - the poor special teams play and all that becomes a non factor if Phil was still there. Everything else gets magnified because he wasn't.

If baby Briles has just let the clock run to get to the 4th quarter game ends differently

This. Several on this board like to say everyone runs Briles' offense, and that's just not true. If we even want to entertain that way of thinking, we could just say (almost) everyone runs a variation of Rusty Russell's offense and move on.
