No qb runs. Terrible terrible terrible
QB runs don't typically work against a stacked box. Utah loaded the box and dared us to beat them through the air. They knew we couldn't. We knew we couldn't.

He didn't give us any of that. He won with Rhule's recruits and has been all downhill since they graduated.

Overall a big improvement. Linebacker play was a step up as was secondary.

O line was a lot better considering they were traffic cones last week

Dumb penalties still a problem. And I think Morgan Scalley figured out our 1 play at halftime. Backyard right sweep worked a few times but it can't work 10 times.

There were a lot of encouraging signs today, especially on defense. It's just deflating to keep losing these types of games. Moral victories don't really mean much at this point. We need real ones.

I know that's the new narrative on here after trashing CMR all these years, but he did coach those players to those wins. Didn't just stand there. Doesn't mean I like the trajectory it's going at the current moment however.

We haven't had a great QB since Seth Russell. That was over 7 years ago.

Since then, we've had Mason Rudolph, Baker Mayfield, Will Grier, Brock Purdy, Kyler Murray, Jalen Hurts, Max Duggan, and Quinn Ewers come through Big 12 teams.

OSU, OU, West Virginia, Iowa State, UT, TCU have all had better luck at QB than we have.

Can't believe anyone trashing Sawyer on this loss. He played way better than most anyone would expect if utahs D is truly even close to what we're supposed to believe.

Would have been Bonus if SB had somehow led us to victory but it's not even like Briles plugging in a new guy to steer the lambo.

If Baylor had gotten the QB play this game that they had in the 1st game, they would've won easily.

I definitely don't want to trash a kid in his first start.... but his numbers were not good.

Hopefully with LIU next week he can get some confidence back before Texas.

1-3 is unacceptable though.
No assurances against Texas of course, but Texas week can be a throw records out. I can still say Aranda can design a defense and doesn't appear he's lost players. Can our offense score confidently against Texas? Will Shapen be back? Will that be good or bad? And yes 1-3 isn't acceptable. What happened at Texas State should resonate in the back of these players mind for as long as each plays for Baylor. Never allow that to happen again. Be ready and compete every week. It was winnable. It should have been won. Hope Texas State as an amazing season going forward, but still shouldn't have happened.
I appreciate that.

But it was not winnable - our team was gassed the whole second half and the fourth quarter it was embarrassing. This team, this staff, simply do not have what it takes. And it's visible within the fanbase based on the attendance/outcome today.

Aranda is a great dude, but our football program is not a YMCA.
When I played football, I never set out to hurt anyone deliberately - unless it was, you know, important, like a league game or something.

Yep. Not a performance he'd be proud of in hind sight but probably what was expected

Not only were his numbers bad, his decision-making gave Utah 10 points -- 10 points they likely wouldn't have scored if they had been forced to drive the length of the field against our defense.

I'm a Sawyer Robertson fan. I think he'll learn, grow and get better. But he was atrocious in the second half today. He throttled our offense.

True that and I like Shapen. Really could've used Bohanon today.

Stop it. I love Gerry but there's a reason why he isn't even starting for South Florida.

The argument wasn't should we have kept Bohanon. The point was that we haven't had a great QB in 7+ years. Bohanon wasn't a great QB or even good QB. He didn't turn the ball over and could run a little. We didn't lose games because of him. But he wasn't good. Hence why he didn't get another P5 call after us.

Because he's still out with a labrum injury. He hasn't been cleared to play.

Any other football coach would be rightfully ripping that ref a new ass for that no call. Not Dave Aranda.

When are we going to accept the fact that this guy doesn't care & it rubs off on the team. He seems like a great guy & I hope he lives his absolute best life as a defensive analyst for Nick Saban & Alabama next year but it's really time for us to move on.

Not everyone is meant to be a head coach & that's okay.

Refs have feelings. Maybe if he meditates on the call, he can get it right next week for UT

It's no doubt Gerry Bo is not a top QB. My point is he was more capable under pressure and we won with him and many times because of him. He's better than Shapin when it counted.
One could argue that maybe he was better for Rhule's scheme. Who knows. But the w/L record is out there.

GB would be just as bad. He excelled when we could run. This team can't run like the 21 team.

Defense played harder but Utah's qb was awful. Good qb's will still abuse our defense. Matt Jones, Dominic Richardson and Ketron were the bright spots.
