None of those teams are in the SEC! Only 1 from the Big 10.

A cynic might say we're not talking about whether Penn St, Ohio St, Texas, Ole Miss, Georgia, or Alabama will be left out because they're all getting in. Most years the Big 12 got one team in. This year there's one less major conference and the Big 12 will still get one team in. It's the 3rd place teams from the SEC/Big 10 that get added to the picture. And maybe Army or Boise St.

Adds to the discussion that with these mega conferences the "luck of the draw" on schedule can be a big factor. UT really drew a favorable schedule this year.

No 3 loss team from any conference should get into the cfp with so many 1 loss teams. Those teams have better records on the field. The only exception that would be at all acceptable would be a conference champion from winning the title game.

Of course the ESPN Blue Blood Invitational will include multiple SEC & Big 10 teams with poorer records: too many losses and not enough quality wins. Wins over P2 teams ard not automatically quality wins. Most of the teams in those conferences are mediocre at best with records no better than Big 12 or ACC teams.

We hear this argument every year and yet during bowl season we consistently see this is not true. The SEC has two or 3 teams every year at the top of college football and the rest are constantly shown to be average.

We beat the 3rd best team in the SEC decisively in a bowl game and everyone ignored it.

The frustrating thing is there no way to beat an SEC team in bowls other than the CFP.

If they win a bowl game it shows their superiority to other conferences. If they lose a bowl game it's because half their team is sitting out for the NFL draft or because the team didn't care about the game because it was beneath them.

It's a win-win scenario.

Hopefully next year we will find ourselves in a position to be more personally upset by all this

I look forward to watching the ACC championship game. As it stands now SMU will be in it. None of the top teams in the ACC have even played another one. So that title game will be interesting. Again things can change but it appears it will be SMU v however they pick the tie breaker between Clemson and Miami. The first game of the season between two ACC teams with really good records.
