Yep. Their best and only good SEC win was over a four-loss and now-unranked A&M team. And their best nonconference win was over a 7-5 Michigan team that has done nothing to boost the perception of Indiana's schedule.IowaBear said:
Your reasoning? Go look at their schedule in SEC play… than compare their schedule to the final SEC standings. They somehow avoided Bama, SC, Tenn, Ole Miss, Mizzou. Doesn't get much easier than that
6 of UT's 8 conference games were against 6 of the 7 worst teams in the SEC:PartyBear said:

Alabama and Ole Miss lost to two of those three, which should be completely disqualifying regardless of the quality of your wins.whitetrash said:6 of UT's 8 conference games were against 6 of the 7 worst teams in the SEC:PartyBear said:

UGA: 2nd-T
Aggy: 4th-T
Fla: 10th
Arky: 11th-T
Vandy: 11th-T
OU: 13th-T
UK: 15th
MissSt: 16th
They missed out only on Auburn. But in their defense, they didn't lose to Arky, Vandy, OU or UK like Bama, Tennessee and Ole Miss did.

What’s on the line in the College Football Playoff? Lots of money.
— Ross Dellenger (@RossDellenger) December 3, 2024
The money is designated to conferences that then distribute it to members.
Conferences get..
- $4M per team making CFP
- $4M per team in quarterfinals
- $6M per team in semifinals
- $6M per team in title game
This team is BYU.

• 10-2 record
• 1 loss to a ranked team (on the road to ASU by 5) and one to an unranked team (KU by 4)
• Strength of schedule in the Top 50 (44th)
• 1 Top 10 win (on the road at #9 SMU)
• Three victories over teams with 8+ wins (11-1 SMU, 8-4 Baylor, 8-4… https://t.co/NltWk87SeW pic.twitter.com/nlxOJhv3bB

BYU finished higher in the CFP as a 10-2 independent than as a 10-2 P4 conference member. Wild.
— Joe Wheat (@joewheat27) December 4, 2024
Just so strange to me that BYU is a 10-2 team with the No. 44 strength of schedule and a top 10 road victory and they're being treated like a non-power team.
— Shehan Jeyarajah (@ShehanJeyarajah) December 4, 2024
For comparison, they're behind Clemson, who is 9-3 with the No. 53 strength of schedule.

Warde Manuel came armed with data this week. Points out:
— Stewart Mandel (@slmandel) December 4, 2024
Alabama is 3-1 vs. Top 25, Miami 0-1. Alabama 6-1 vs. teams above .500, Miami 4-2.
If you were curious how they fared against teams .500 or better: Miami is 6-2 and Alabama is 6-3. https://t.co/NPHO71znIy
— Max Olson (@max_olson) December 4, 2024
Just sayin’ — what if Texas houses Georgia? SMU, Miami already guaranteed to have better records. Alabama, Ole Miss, South Carolina have the same amount of losses
— Dennis Dodd (@dennisdoddcbs) December 4, 2024
And of course it's Alabama who survives. Hahaha.boognish_bear said:In the next half hour, Championship hopes will functionally end for 4 of these teams. pic.twitter.com/9xCXiFyhjs

Alabama also lost two of the six worst teams in their own conference and hasn't put more than three consecutive weeks of good football together all season long.boognish_bear said:Warde Manuel came armed with data this week. Points out:

It's insulting that the two teams at 10-2 competing for the Big12 championship are below multiple teams with worse records that won't be playing on championship weekend and the playoff committee already said those that aren't playing won't be moved down because they won't have any new data points.
Screw those guys. I thought the playoff would solve some of these biased committee members, but the bias runs too deep and the method for choosing the teams changes based on who they want in the playoff.
Alabama should have been hammered for their late season loss to OU and they barely dropped, but Big12 cant get a 2nd team into the playoff simply because of the name on their jersey.

On what are you basing this confidence in Clemson? I'm not saying they can't beat SMU, but that team has been pretty underwhelming all season. Klubnik ****s down his leg every time they play a good team.IowaBear said:

I'd have agreed with you four or five years ago. But Dabo and Co. have lost far more big games than they've won the past three years. And they've lost all of their big games this year.IowaBear said:
I trust Dabo in big games. Also think Clemson is much more battle tested. Per usual I'll gladly eat crow if wrong. But I'm as confident in that pick as I am any conference title game pick
Note that Miami dropped farther for losing on the road to an 8-3 team than Ohio State did for losing at home to a 6-5 team (and scoring 10 points).

Okay one thing on this: You can’t defer to the fact that the committee doesn’t work in hypotheticals, and then toss out a hypothetical that you know will make everyone mad. It erodes trust. https://t.co/JXXh748yd7
