We need to start going for 2 if we are just going to match TDs with them.
Shhhh... Dave might hear ya
And it'll be a run up the middle that we telegraph from a mile away while they stack the box

Perfect drive.
We're wasting an excellent offense with a deficient defense.
Needless to say, that shouldn't happen in Year 7.
If Dave is going to be our head coach next year, he has GOT to fire himself as DC and go get a proven guy with a proven scheme to handle that side of the ball.

Strange game plan there from SMU

My nephew (Baylor senior) is at the game and he texted me that they not only sell alcohol in the stadium, but he suspects they also sell cocaine.

With us getting the ball out of halftime, the door is now open.
We just have to score every possession and have the football last.
That's your mission, offense, should you choose to accept it. You won't be getting any help from the 'D.'

Sensible. They are getting the second half kickoff, no reason to risk a bad play that deep after the kickoff didn't wo well for them. You do a safe hand off once to see if maybe they get lucky and break off a chunk of yards. Then just run it out.

The passing game opened up a few decent runs that last drive.
Need to come out throwing again. Force SMU out of the box. Should open bigger lanes for Bryson. We need some resemblance of a run game to keep humming imo
Bennetts teams were coached to bend and not break. He wasn't disillusioned by an idea that he would have a top 10 defense. He knew it would come down to 1-2 stops and coached the hell out of his guys to get it with piss and vinegar. Loved watching him chew out folks on the sidelines lolJudgeBear1845 said:boognish_bear said:bear2be2 said:

Those Phil Bennett defenses were not good, but looking back, they seemed to typically get that critical stop or turnover when needed.

Just a reminder that the game would be tied at 24 had the Defensive Guru elected to kick the the field goal in the first quarter.

I really question "excellent offense". Can't run the ball consistently. We are one dimensional, that won't win consistently or more important when a win is drastically needed.

You fool. Dave was playing 4-D chess with that missed 4th down play!!!

Does Dave know that we have to set the edge? I mean that is something middle school coaches teach. And yet during that first half I saw numerous plays where we had no one. Not one single guy on the outside. The "outside" guy was practically lined up on the TE or lineman on the edge just right behind the end and two yards back.
And the result was huge gains.

Go and win this damn game Bears...starting 0-2 would be so deflating given expectations coming into this season
