Feel bad for Oregon St fans. Complete dumpster fire that is undeserved by a loyal fanbase.
May SC and UCLA never win again for what they'd did to burn a great conference
What? So now the PAC was a "great conference"?
I thought the PAC was a lousy, weak a%% conference. At least that was the opinion of many across this country who didn't have any respect for the conference. Now suddenly it was great?
Personally I always knew it was great. But strange to see fans who had cast aspersions on the PAC in the past suddenly say it was great.
I loved the PAC. Not only did we have traditional powerhouses in football and basketball, USC and UCLA, respectively, but we also had the top three teams in NCAA Div. I with the most national championships across all sports. Stanford, UCLA and USC.
Add to that academic juggernauts of Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA and even USC over the last four decades or so. And Washington was no slouch either. The conference had it all.
Personally I wish USC and UCLA never left the conference. The rest of the country didn't give the PAC any respect, but we knew what we had. And seeing the rivalries between USC and Stanford and USC and Berkeley go by the wayside sucks.
That all being said, when USC and UCLA left the conference, they still had 10 teams. They could have held. Oregon and Washington would have been the top bananas in athletics. Stanford and Cal would still hold in academics. One could argue that Oregon and Washington were the ones who actually played a major role in officially breaking up of the conference.
Unless, of course, people are willing to admit that maybe USC actually was a kingpin and more important to the conference than people gave it credit for. Because it sure seemed that without us and UCLA it began the process of crumbling. But it didn't have to continue.
The leadership of the PAC was horrible though. USC had been complaining about the conference for years and had even talked about going Independent. I can see why Oregon and Washington didn't want to stay with a poorly run conference either.
Odd though to care about two teams from another conference for which one has no skin in the game.
When TX and OK left the XII, that almost broke up the XII. As a USC fan I couldn't have cared less if they won or lost as they moved on to their new conference. I can see why their rivals in the XII would be happy seeing them lose, but I didn't care.
Odd to see a football fan from a non-PAC conference and someone with no skin in the games played by USC and UCLA want them to lose. Why care?
I'm not happy that USC left the conference though.
