I thought Herman was an excellent coach. I wish he were ours.

I thought so too. I thought maybe UT just was a bad fit. Also thought he was a little immature with some of his antics and he just needed to grow up a little bit.

But he went to FAU in '23 and '24 and totally flopped there. Not sure why he can't recapture what he did at UH. Maybe Gary Ward Jr carried him at QB.

LSU plays at Ole Miss next year. I remember when Ole Miss played at Tennessee and theVols fans threw golf balls at Kiffin.
Thank you Miami Hurricanes. 10-3. :)

Mark Stoops wouldn't be a bad hire. Join Aranda's staff as a DC and then promote him when Aranda gets fired.

He's the winningest coach in Kentucky football history.

Interesting idea. And certainly better than Aranda. But not exactly sold on bringing in a defensive HC from the Midwest whose record is eerily similar to Aranda. To me, he's in the same downward trajectory.

The list of potential head coaching candidates we will have available to us by delaying Aranda's firing till 2026 has shrunk considerably. Morris, Golesh, etc are gone. Traylor looks to still be available but may make a move to a school with more NIL resources, and some of the other names (Mullen, Eck, Rogers) may do the same.

Evaluate the Stoops idea from the perspective of what options we may have in December 2026, not October 2025.

I would rather turn the thing over to him after a year in the property than a coordinator who has never been a head coach. We tried that with Aranda and it has been a program destroying failure.

Just look at coaching contracts whenever anyone says "we can't afford that".

Dropping $50M here, $50 there...

You can afford anything if you WANT it bad enough!

Pros: The locals could understand him when he speaks.

Cons: Tulane wears sissy blue shirts.

Via Jake Hatch from the Locked On Cougars Insider Group: BYU just called an emergency team meeting. Spirits are low. Sounds like it's official that Kalani is headed to State College, likely before the Conference Championship game.

I could see him being a great fit at Penn State… but I really hate to see a good coach leave the big 12.

Plus... there goes another opening to be filled if Baylor were even considering getting in the market.

Orgeron to Ole Miss would be fun.

I'm shocked actually. I can't believe he would leave BYU. The tough part for BYU is that one has to be an active LDS member in good standing to be a HC there. t some point they are going to run out luck in finding good HCs who are. However Gary Patterson is I believe.

I'm pretty sure Kellen Moore is a practicing Mormon to some degree but he's got a head coaching job with the Saints. If the church requires the head coach be a Mormon in good standing that really shrinks the pool.

I also understand someone like Bronco Mendenhall who has some very good years, probably feels like you achieved all you can or did your service, and decides to take a job without as many restrictions

The last team I would shed a tear for in the Big 12 is BYU.
