This approach seems to make better senseAuburn is resetting how it approaches NIL. Fewer front-loaded deals, more production-based incentives and stricter valuations. There might be growing pains, but the goal is long-term stability, a healthier locker room and a culture shift.

How did the @CFBPlayoff teams build their rosters?

I dove into @SportSourceA data for each of the 12 teams in the field to see exactly how much of their key contributions come from recruits vs. transfers. Read the full breakdown @TheAthletic: https://t.co/TvVlhA0UOj pic.twitter.com/n9b8TJ7AEX

To me the portal rules are more poisonous than NIL. What would be more demoralizing than having RGIii transfer to UT his junior year. Ugh.

Why bother tracking. We're going to suck because CDA will still be the head coach. Wake me up after next season.
It's gonna be worse than that. He's gonna win with Lagway and get extended. Then four more years of suck.

It's not Just one $20 million check. It's $20 million, then the next year $25 million check, then the next year a $30 million check and on and on.
Schools like BU have some serious and consequential decisions to make about whether they should to try to stay in this game.

Agree on that. As crazy as I am about football I'm not even sure that is a good use of money.

BU leadership and the Baylor BMDs - along with many non football factory schools - have some tough decisions to make about what kind of University they want to be, how they want to fund it, and what kind of athletic program they want to have.

I believe they have already arrived at that decision. And perhaps that decision was "made" for them by financial and cultural reality. Dave Garland's comment seems prophetic, as it turns out.

The brain dead rationalization for keeping Dave next year is the number one indicator that we are not a football school. Oh nooooo we might take a couple weeks to find a new coach, and we might lose our best commits to other schools or something. Can't let that happen. Oh waitβ¦..
And I think our decision makers would rather be the tackling dummy of the big 12 purely for the revenue that it brings than move to a conference where we can actually compete ie AAC, CUSA etc.

We're gonna be replacing damn near the whole team when the smoke clears. It's so funny, there was some dude on the premium board play works in the athletic department claiming that the big reason for keeping Dave was because the administration feared a mass exodus if we fired him.

Appears that Linda's letter didn't do a whole lot to keep the recruiting class or the current roster together.
Who could have predicted that...

Real leadership would take university money and invest heavy, heavy for one season to get a ball rolling for donors to piggyback for this year and subsequent. I just think unfortunately it's a mess and behind an eight ball. It will be very hard to succeed in a one year time frame no matter how personable the coaches are.
