Do you folks think Mulk or Drew would still be here if we never offered them raises? Every coach in every sport is a mercenary. You folks are fools if you think Rhule isnt here because we were willing to pay more than Oregon and Temple. You are also fools if you actually think he would not put us into a bidding war with PSU or Ohio State as well for that matter should they have an opening and he has us back where we were under Briles.

FTR, I think it was all preventable, but you can't hire a lame duck AD and I doubt Briles took guidance and advice from anyone.
Problem is, it really only takes a one sensational lawsuit to rack of millions in legal fees and damages to offset the revenue of an 11-1 season and a CFP spot.Chanceux said:Ok. I never thought Art was a Bear for life. Didn't really care either. Don't care if Rhule is. So long as they win and somebody makes a good hire once they go. The money those wins brought was big. Important too. Which is why I don't think you fire him for anything but covering up sexual assault. Plenty of fall guys to take the blame for other stuff. Canning Art because they had enough to can him aint a good enough play. Generic stuff like saying football culture. Culture can be corrected. Can't get the money back. And all of us know that the damages could be worse in a few years if the conferences start readjusting.

I don't know the numbers of this bullmess so far but it's a lot. This was a tough, tough lesson for those folks in charge. Everybody looking around at each other wondering how it got there. No excuse for that. It's a risk you can afford to take. Granted, if you have a great compliance department, that's manageable stuff and we both agree that's not entirely a fb coach responsibility.
But get caught lying to your own university and you can forget sympathy from a jury if something goes down.
The cost of re-work as we like to say in the manufacturing business is 10x higher than the cost of fixing it the first time. the real crime here is we have regents who have ZERO clue as to what a world class university should look like and how it should operate.Chanceux said:I don't know the numbers of this bullmess so far but it's a lot. QUESTION: IF CAB, other coaching staff, athletic dept, and dozens of players all knew about, participated in, colluded to cover up rapes then wouldn't that mean that RG3 and our other player-friends and contributors to this page knew about it and did nothing? That would be criminal.

It also makes the decision easy to hammer an individual or get rid of him or her when they screw up. Don't cry when you leave your employer no margin for error.mmodine said:Sometimes when they fund out you get a raiseTellMeYouLoveMe said:PartyBear said:

And either way it was never that big of a deal. Success while on the job was. Anybody worried about a fb coach being interested in other jobs is being babyish and idealistic

Keep believing it isn't common at the major level of college sports.
Ask Rhule if he loves us so much he would agree to a new contract for less.
If letting Briles go had anything to do with loyalty then our BOR is full of egotistical maniacs and they need to step down immediately.TellMeYouLoveMe said:PartyBear said:TellMeYouLoveMe said:PartyBear said:

You're still missing the point. If you're about to be on your wedding night, it looks bad to get caught warming up another chick as a backup option.

It's not like this school hasn't seen an athletic scandal before.....all someone had to do was to get involved when the program first started to take off and monitor how players were managed and disciplined.
Real simple.

If you had the balls to believe what you just wrote there, and clearly you don't, you wouldn't have used the word, "GUESS."
Here, watch how I do it. "I''m pretty f'ing sure that a big reason they parted ways was broken trust."
See how that works? That you're tiptoeing there tells me all I need to know about how confident you are.

Oh so you know exactly why Briles was fired? That would make you the only person on this site with that information and means that you are either on the board or closely associated with it.
