Kingsbury didn't offer you a scholarship because you suck at football.

You just happen to be the luckiest QB of all time surrounded by NFL players in every position at Oklahoma.

Don't worry, you'll be exposed in Cleveland

Ohio State to Earn $5,000,000 to play TCU

The Buckeyes will also receive a nice chunk of change for agreeing to play TCU at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas this season. Ohio State earns $5 million for the trip to the Lone Star State on Sept. 15 for the non-conference clash with the Horned Frogs, a game that could have College Football Playoff implications.

KLIFF KINGSBURYRESPONDS TO BAKER MAYFIELD... 'I'm a Huge Fan'

Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury heard all the unkind things Baker Mayfield said about him on his new docuseries -- and now, he's got some quotes of his own for his former QB.

As we previously reported, Mayfield said Kingsbury treated him GREAT at TT during his freshman year ... only to kick him to the curb when he suffered a knee injury during a game against Kansas.

Both Baker and his father went in on Kingsbury during the FOX Sports series 'All The Way Up' -- and said the final straw was when TT refused to offer him a scholarship, despite racking up 5 wins as a walk-on.

We reached out to Kingsbury for comment and he told us:

"I've always been a huge fan of Baker and loved working with him. He had an incredible career at Oklahoma, and I wish him nothing but continued success as he begins his NFL career."
High road, to say the least ... but he also isn't disputing any of the claims Mayfield made on the show.
The 13th Grade should give Klingleberry a lifetime contract. He has taken them farther than anyone would have. Even though he was their 4th choice after Pine Box Tommy crawled out the window to get away from that dumpster fire he has been nails for them. If Klingleberry can get the rapist Jett Duffey to play well they might even win a couple of games this year.
I am a Baylor letterman, a Baylor graduate and I love Baylor.

In his defense, Tommy left the steak on the table instead of taking it in a to-go box. That would have been totally gauche.

Ohio State to reportedly make $5 million for AT&T Stadium game with TCU

By Zach BarnettJul 31, 2018, 6:03 PM EDT

Ohio State and TCU altered their home-and-home agreement into a single neutral-site game, which is a shame. To see the Buckeyes and their fans crammed into the 40,000-seat, renovated Amon Carter Stadium in Fort Worth would've been a treat in the era of big-time games played in antiseptic, soulless NFL stadiums.

But we know exactly why these one-off games in antiseptic, soulless NFL stadiums survive: money. They're basically bowl games without the contractual requirement to pay for a week's worth of hotel rooms for your entire football team and half your athletics department. This year's Ohio State-TCU game at the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium has already been selected as ABC's "Saturday Night Football" game for the week of Sept. 15, giving the Buckeyes the maximum amount of exposure, along with a high dollar amount.

Eleven Warriors reported Tuesday Ohio State will be paid $5 million to appear at AT&T Stadium, which is more than ten times the amount ($400,000) Ohio State made for a trip to Oklahoma in 2016.

Additionally, Ohio State will dole out $1.7 million for Oregon State's Sept. 1 visit to Ohio Stadium and $1.5 million for Tulane's Sept. 22 visit. The $3.2 million figure is believed to be a record for Ohio State in guaranteed payouts but, even still, the Buckeyes will net a hefty profit thanks to the TCU game.

The $1.7 million promised to Oregon State is the highest guarantee on record for an Ohio State opponent to date. However, $1.8 million is promised to Buffalo, Akron and Toledo for their Horseshoe visits in 2020, '21 and '22, respectively.

WVU announces major renovation project, 'Climbing Higher'
  • By Bob Hertzel | For the Times West Virginian
MORGANTOWN West Virginia University's athletic department is beginning a five-year, $100-million facilities renovation project dubbed "Climbing Higher".

In making the announcement of the sweeping project that will be focused on improving things for student-athletes, athletic director Shane Lyons stressed that such an investment is necessary to keep up with what he termed "the arms race" in college athletics.

"The thing we have looked at over the past couple of years is: Where are we compared to others nationally, and also within the Big 12 Conference?" Lyons said. "And I can tell you with a lot of our facilities, we are not where we need to be to be successful as an athletic program from a facilities standpoint."

"We know that is aggressive, but we also understand if we don't make changes and move forward, we will be going backward."

This is actually Phase 2 of a project that began when Lyons arrived and has been under study and discussion for 18 months. It comes after sweeping changes were made to the facilities at Milan Puskar Stadium and the Coliseum to make things more up-to-date and comfortable for fans.

At the same time, the Morgantown area was growing dynamically, adding a minor league baseball stadium that is shared between the university and the West Virginia Black Bears and with the development of both a track facility and aquatic facility at Milan Park.

The program will be done in phases at the stadium and at the Coliseum complex.

It begins, as most everything does in the athletic program with the cash cow, which is football, which gets $55 million to completely redo the football building.

On Thursday, the Puskar Center complex actually opened a new and much larger and better equipped training center with a new hydrotherapy center and training table, something that will be followed by a new academic center and new and enlarged WVU and visitors locker room.

Because of logistical needs, the visiting locker room will be completed before work can begin on the Mountaineers' new locker room, which will also include a lounge. The home locker room will increase by 5,000 square feet, almost doubling its size.

The football operations will be virtually completely redone, with the head coach getting a bigger office, while the team meeting rooms, both for the full offense and defense and the position rooms, will also be enlarged and made more comfortable.

In all, there will be 72,500 square feet of expansion within the same building that is now being used.
Cosmetically, Lyons is planning to take the Football Hall of Fame out of the back of the Puskar Center and move it to the front, much as they did at the basketball facility.

Shifting to the Coliseum, they are projecting $35 million of the $100 million to be used to update the nerve center of the athletic department and the surrounding area.

The idea here is to improve its utility and to improve it cosmetically, having already made renovations to the walkway and the offices in Phase 1.

"The Coliseum is approaching 50 years old and we have never touched the inner bowl," Lyons said.
In that regard, they intend to replace what are the original seats with larger, more modern seats while not cutting down on the capacity of the Coliseum.

Plans are to add 500 parking spaces where the running track currently exits to the 1,682 spots now available. At the same time, the "red apron" that surrounds the Coliseum has always bugged Lyons, and he pledges that will be changed and improved, as will the lighting, which has always been a problem following games.

Lyons even sees the day that the Coliseum will be lit up in different in colors as you see it coming into town from the expressway, "blue and gold on game days, pink on gala events or blue and green on Christmas, although we don't use much green around here" he said, referring to downstate rival Marshall's colors.

The landscaping at the Coliseum complex will be improved as Lyons attempts to give it "a fresh new look."

The athletes in Olympic sports will benefit from a new performance center along with shared team lounge and locker rooms.

Plans are to improve lounges for the school's donors at basketball games

The Olympic sports will have their own complex used by the 350 athletes involved there.

"Right now," Lyons pointed out, "some sports teams don't have locker rooms and that's not what I want as director of athletics."

The Shell Building will be completely renovated as will the aquatic area ... all of that being refurbished to fit in with the new basketball, gymnastics and wrestling facilities.

The facilities at the Coliseum complex will also be connected.

The Cary Gym, which houses the women's gymnastics team, will get a $5 million upgrade that will include a training room, additional gym space, an upgraded locker room and a lounge/study area along with a team meeting space and storage space.

Perhaps the largest change comes with the new golf team, which will get a new facility of its own.

The university is entering into a long-rumored lease/purchase agreement with the White Day Golf Course in Fairmont for 94 or 95 acres of land to build a multi-purpose six hole facility that can be altered to play as par 3s, 4s and 5s and have 27 different configurations, along with a clubhouse locker room, practice greens and 6 indoor hitting bays.

"The Big 12 is the best conference in the country for golf," Lyons noted, citing that Oklahoma State won this past year's NCAA title and the conference has won the last three crowns. "This gives us chance to build a winning program."

SPECULATION THAT IOWA STATE'S MATT CAMPBELL WOULD BE HIGH ON OSU'S LIST

Peterson: No matter who says what, the Ohio State drama for Iowa State's Matt Campbell won't subside

AMES, Ia. He's not addressing Ohio State, Tennessee, Nebraska, Florida, the NFL or anything else and that's probably wise.

Matt Campbell's no-commenting on other folks' house philosophy, however, won't stop national speculation until The Ohio State University somehow resolves The Unanswered Football Question:
Will Urban Meyer continue as the Buckeyes' head coach?

The longer Ohio State goes without a true, non-interim leader, the longer you're going to read "Matt Campbell to the Buckeyes" rumors.

It's as much a fact of life as Iowa State football's first opening practice Friday, which was pretty routine except for center Julian Good-Jones starting at left tackle.

Whether that shift is a major storyline and whether that actually happens won't be determined for the next eight or so practices, as Campbell and his staff sort out just who are the best five linemen.

"You're going to see (Good-Jones) get moved around a lot," Campbell told reporters. "That's one of the great things for him. He's got so much position flexibility.

Texas A&M grad transfer CB Kemah Siverand bound for Oklahoma State

After a summer workload that included 25 academic credit hours, cornerback Kemah Siverand is bound for Oklahoma State as a graduate transfer.

Siverand completed his degree at Texas A&M in time to have two years of eligibility remaining once he joins the Cowboys. He'll be a redshirt junior this season, having recorded six tackles in four games last season with the Aggies. Siverand announced the decision via his Twitter account Friday night.

It was Siverand's first year as a defensive back, having gone to Texas A&M as a receiver. He was a four-star receiver prospect at Cy Ridge in Houston, per 247Sports Composite.

OSU, which began fall camp Thursday, returns its two starting corners from last season in junior A.J. Green and redshirt sophomore Rodarius Williams. The Cowboys moved Tyrell Alexander from receiver to corner in the spring to try to add depth at the position. With new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles' 4-2-5 scheme, OSU requires more defensive backs, an effort Siverand's arrival will certainly help.

Sorry for the wait! I didn't take 25 hours this summer for no reason!

Former Alabama linebacker VanDarius Cowan transferring to West Virginia

The Mountaineers will round out the 2018 signing class by adding the former 4-star outside backer.

By Michael Miller@westbygod_ Aug 4, 2018, 2:45pm EDT

According to Mike Casazza of EerSports.com, the West Virginia Mountaineers will use the final remaining scholarship for the 2018 signing class on Alabama Crimson Tide sophomore linebacker VanDarius Cowan.

Cowan was dismissed from the Tide in June following an arrest for third-degree assault, after he punched another man in the face in a Tuscaloosa bar. Cowan turned himself in to the authorities, and was released for a "violation of team rules" on the day video of the incident was released.

The 6'-4", 235lb outside linebacker signed with the Tide in 2017, over offers from LSU, Florida State, Miami, and Oregon. He played in seven games as a true freshman, recording two tackles.

Cowan will use his redshirt and sit out the 2018 season for the Mountaineers, due to NCAA transfer rules, and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Iowa State end zone project set to start in 2019

AMES, Iowa (AP) Iowa State is moving closer to the day when lack of facilities will no longer be an excuse for a lack of success.

The Cyclones announced Wednesday that construction on its new football performance center is expected to start next spring. The complex, which the Iowa Board of Regents approved in April, will include an academic and nutrition center as well as a new plaza and stadium entrance beyond its north end zone.

Athletic director Jamie Pollard said it's not yet clear when the project might be complete.

Iowa State essentially enclosed its south end zone with new seating and a large sports bar in a $60 million project ahead of the 2015 season. That was part of a push to get its once-lagging facilities up to par with its Big 12 rivals.

If you're wondering why West Virginia coaches wanted to check into the linebacker a bit more than usual, that's because he was dismissed by Nick Saban in early July for a violation of team rules. That violation came in the form of Tuscaloosa bar fight in June that saw Cowan eventually being charged for misdemeanor assault for his alleged involvement. Prior to committing to Alabama as a recruit, Cowan was also dismissed from his high school team as well for what 247Sports described as "poor behavior."

Texas regents scheduled to approve $175-million expansion of Royal-Memorial Stadium

New construction could begin in 2019 with a projected final completion date in July 2021

Posted August 6th, 2018

Texas officials are expected to take a major step forward on the path to renovating Royal-Memorial Stadium this week.

The UT System Board of Regents are scheduled to hear a presentation from president Gregory L. Fenves and athletic director Chris Del Conte during Thursday's meeting. The south end zone expansion project is scheduled to cost approximately $175 million, according to the agenda book posted on Monday.

The school will raise $125 million of the total cost through gifts, according to UT documents. Pledges totaling $30 million have already been obtained. The final $50 million will be financed through debt markets and repaid from "premium seating and ticket sales."

No taxpayer dollars and no tuition money will be used in the project, according to the school.

If regents approve the project, construction could begin in 2019 with a projected completion date in July 2021.

University officials declined comment on Monday about the stadium expansion project. Typically, they do not speak about matters going before the regents.

Australian punter leaves WVU football team

MORGANTOWN Australian punter Angus Davies has left the West Virginia football program after only a few days on campus.

A source said he quickly became homesick and wouldn't rejoin the team.
Davies later tweeted:

"It comes with great regret that I have passed up the opportunity to study and play football at West Virginia University. With the support of WVU, ProKick Australia, and my family, I have come home to seek support for my mental health. Go Mountaineers"

The 6-foot-4 Davies committed to West Virginia last November, but had not signed his letter of intent.

After training at ProKick Australia, the punter factory that produced Texas All-American Michael Dickson, Davies figured to push Morgantown product Billy Kinney this season. Kinney's 40.9-yard average ranked 70th in the FBS during 2017 and WVU finished 103rd from 129 teams in net punting.

Australian punter leaves WVU football team

Allan TaylorAugust 7, 2018 8:21 am

He must have witnessed his first couch burning. And maybe it was his couch.
Or had a taste of West Virginia Moon Shine and went running home to momma

Or realized that local customs prohibited dating since his cousins do not reside nearby.

I'd laugh, but I honestly can't blame the guy.

OU football: Freshman DB Starrland Baldwin to miss 2018 season after re-tearing ACL

Oklahoma freshman Starrland Baldwin had anticipated a head start in college as an early enrollee, but a torn anterior cruciate ligament last fall threw a kink into that plan.

Baldwin will now redshirt and miss the 2018 season after recently re-tearing the ACL that was initially repaired, OU coach Lincoln Riley announced Tuesday. Baldwin is set for surgery in the next few days.

"He did it in a non-contract [drill] a couple of days ago," Riley said. "He'll do the full redshirt and he probably won't be available for the four games."

It's OU's first major injury reported since the start of fall camp.

Oklahoma State Starting Punter:Zach Sinor out with unknown timetable after hernia surgery

According to The Oklahoman's report, Sinor posted a message on Instagram saying "surgery went well! Thanks everyone for the support." The Oklahoman's report also states that any injury reports directly from the program would come from Mike Gundy and news broke after he talked to the media following Tuesday's practice.
Sinor started in all of Oklahoma's State's games last year averaging 41.3 yards per punt on 38 attempts.
Matt Hockett is next on the depth chart to take the place of Sinor.

Who knew we would start a building war when our Football Stadium, Track and Field Facility, Golf Practice and Club House Facility, and Tennis Courts were built. It doesn't look like we're going to stand down anytime soon either.

What building projects are coming up soon?
Baketball. Make it smaller so Drew can fill it.

I knew Ferrell had been brought up as a discussion topic, just didn't know it is actually going through. I thought it was back-burnered when big donors got pissed off the past couple of years.
I might be reading the basketball board thread the wrong way. Or BiPolarBear has something else in mind.
I haven't heard anything new about Basketball Facilities. Matt Rhodes in his weekly visit on YMTC did say they were given the greenlight to start a study and explore funding for a "Football Operations Only" facility. Whether that meant moving all non-football offices out of The Hyers Simpson Athletic Facility or building a new facility for football only is un-clear.

Going without an OC an interesting bet by Iowa State HC Campbell

Matt Campbell is taking a risk. In a world where coordinators command high profiles and $2 million salaries, the Iowa State football coach has opted to simply not have an offensive coordinator for the 2018 season.

KU freshman OL Jacobi Lott 'stable' after leaving practice in ambulance

An injury marred the Kansas football team's fifth preseason practice, its first in full pads, on Wednesday morning.

An ambulance was called to the practice fields adjacent to David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium when offensive lineman Jacobi Lott suffered an unspecified form of trauma that was deemed a code red due to its critical nature by paramedics who arrived on the scene.

Lott left the practice in an ambulance after being stabilized and was taken to a hospital.

A KU spokesperson said Wednesday afternoon Lott was considered in "stable" condition and "responding normally" while being further evaluated. A timetable for his recovery and future availability is unknown at this time.
