Post position looking like a quantitative play. Think Late 90s Bulls running out Longley, Wennington, Edwards, Salley, and even a geriatric Parrish.

Simply overwhelm with constant fresh legs, effectively unlimited fouls, ability to constantly probe for best matchup, ability to have varying types of posts [power, speed, length, etc.].

While a dominant player is always the preferred option, the quantitative play has been effective when paired with solid perimeter play. Basically Jordan's entire career in Chicago they lacked solid post offense…..so they eventually went with quantity……it worked.

If Smith wanted $300K at LSU, they would have that NIL $$ to get her to stay. She may have wanted more than $300K and didn't work out.

Thinking Johnson is backup at F and center. Really like her pick up though and think she will be more productive here. Would love a PG with size who can shot (wuld be happy with Deng), a 3 with more size who can shoot, and a talented big ( not yet announced or overseas) or as AP suggested by committee.

At this point, outside of Deng we know nothing. Scott came out of no where and took even the WBB "insiders" by surprise. Pemberton I think we got a day or two notice that she was considering us before she committed. Same with Johnson. Who knows who else they've been in on or have set up visits with.

Smith has only been rumored that we offered a ton to. Not a ton of rumors expressing interest. The other 3 we were bringing in that anyone knew of, 2 canceled after 1 school visited and the third committed to Texas.

There is a rumbling that the staff is working on helping an overseas 5 try to get eligible. Late in the calendar but not impossible.

Think both MBB & WBB staffs are now applying the "have a backup for my backup for my backup for my backup for my plan" method of roster building.

Which is smart. In this world, nothing is set in stone. I honestly would be interested to see us take a little bit of a shot at that 6'9 girl from Texas. Has good skills, don't know if she is ready yet though for a bigger league like the Big 12 or SEC. But could she fit into the mold of the "by committee?" I think so

From what you've heard, is this a potential starter?

I can't imagine any staff going through that level of work for any player not projectable as a starter.
Cost/benefit issue.

Will see how this impacts things on their roster. I do wonder about one of the forwards who was a bench player will enter transfer portal. The one I wonder about is Aaliyah Roberson. It's because she won't be a starter. Also what if one of the two forwards that TCU got would get out of letter of intent.

I did notice Vanessa De Jesus from Duke is now following Nicki Collen on Instagram. She is a 5 ft 8 inch guard who has 1 year of eligibility for sure. I am not sure about 2 years. She only played 4 games in 2020-2021 season but has played 2021-2022 season then 2023-2024. She did miss the 2023-2024 season but played this past year.

This gives them at at least 4 new players that are 6' 5" + This one and the one from KY will probably start, and the others will sit. Gather them up so nobody else gets them, though expect some to transfer out next year.

I don't know why people aren't fighting over being on Baylor WBB team. Next year we win the national championship again. Next year makes 7 years since the last one.

#6 scorer on a BAD team…….10-22 record, 3-15 in conference.
43% shooter. Really bad for a post player. Only decent stat was blocks.

TCU seems to be pursuing the Big by Committee approach. But unlike Baylor, not sure they have the necessary perimeter scoring to make it work.

Would love to see Baylor WBB have enough depth to press TCU for 48 minutes given the current TCU roster.

Agreed although it's interesting that tcu picked up 4 players that are 6'7 and 6'8 .. I don't understand. All of them can't play at the same time. I remember when Oregon state tried it with the world's tallest womens team.. it didn't work very well.

They saw a drop off when Sedona was off the court, so went after every big lol. But, I agree the guard play won't be at the same level.

Also, some of these that they are getting are interesting. Like you said, 6th best scorer on a bad team

tcu is filling their roster with all these super tall girls. thats a huge disadvantage, isnt it? i wonder what theyre thinking. a team full of posts isnt exactly a recipe for success?
