If TCU gets Miles so be it. I am extremely excited about what Nicki is doing!! I hate TCU but we meed nationally competitive teams in the Big 12. Big 12 Wbb took a hit when Texas and OU left. I was initially excited about Arizona coming in but they have gotten worse each year…….We need good teams. We had great crowds at TCU and Baylor when we played this year and games got national attention.

Fans aren't going to get excited about us playing teams that aren't good.

This is a good point--we really need the B12 to not fall to the level of a Big East.

I think the new hirings at Houston and ASU bode well for the conference. There were too many have-nots this year. We need like 3 or 4 programs to jump up a level.

Koval [Notre Dame] 6'5 post from Ukraine was the #5 overall recruit last year & #1 post recruit. Now in portal.

Couldn't ask for a better fit for the way that Baylor WBB plays O & D.

Koval's sturdy 6'5" frame, skill set (good passer, runs floor decently for sturdy 6'5"), and 3 years remaining eligibility just might make her the most highly recruited Post player in the portal. As a Frosh at Notre Dame, she was in the 8 man rotation, averaging 18 minutes/game, 5 points, and 5 rebounds. She led the team with 55 blocks in 32 games.

This morning, before today's announcements, Chantel Jennings of The Athletic listed her top 14 players in the portal, and these were the Post players on her list:
4. Serah Williams - Jr, Wisconsin.
6. Sa'Myah Smith - So, LSU.
13. Clara Silva - Fr, Kentucky.
14. Breya Cunningham, So, Arizona.

Yuting deng from Auburn is being followed by Nicki Collen. She is a 6 ft guard who will be a sophomore next year. She only played 12 games because she early enrolled at Auburn. She averaged 11.8 PPG, 2.5 rebounds per game, 2.4 assists per game , 1.7 turnovers per game, .5 steals per game, .2 blocks per game, and 1.4 fouls per game. She was 38 percent from the field on 129 attempts, 36.5 percent on 3s on 74 attempts, and 85 percent on throws on 20 attempts.

Things heating up this week - almost 1,100 WBB D1 players have entered the portal in the last month - lots of people to sort through very quickly just as players have a lot of schools to look at quickly. As players commit, options change - excited to see where Baylor ends up in this merry go round

She liked Vonlehs post about declaring for the Wnba, how coming to baylor was one of her best decisions and best years of her college career. Speaks on her development and relationships with her teammates and coaches (sophia).

Coach Micheal, Jana, Coach nicki and her Daughter reese, all have followed her.


I think we are making a good push for her.

Since Jada williams commit to iowa state and possibly a olivia miles to tcu. It would really be important for baylor to get a primary point guard or more really good guard depth.

We only have Jana and Ines and they are both coming off of a injury.

Given that even the best Baylor teams have started transfers from schools like Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, etc

and

Given that most solid coaches could take the top 1-2 players from teams 6-11 in the SEC and build a solid Elite 8 quality team

and

Given we not only got Auburn's best talent but also their HC who has been a Top Ten recruiter for the past two decades

Maybe dumping on Auburn isn't really a smart move.

thats a scary thought. i'd like to chalk up this year as a crazy anomaly, but we tend to not do too well with the tall players. i cant bear the thought of losing to tcu 2 years in a row. We dont have much height on next years roster

As a true freshman on a roster that only had one double digit scorer after the third game when Scott went down with the injury, Deng averaged 11.8 ppg on 36.5% from 3 and 85% from FT line. She is 6'0 tall and clearly has a solid shooting stroke.

Given that 24/25 Baylor WBB roster was a collection of tiny guards and wings (not small, tiny) who were at best streaky shooters, Deng is EXACTLY what the roster needs.

Baylor ran drop coverage [almost no icing the ballscreen or hard hedge] because we had zero back side size. Switching was death to the D as our perimeter wasn't tall enough to ride most rides at a carnival.

Dumping on Deng makes little sense.

I have watched some video of Deng - I think she would be really good in this system. I think the switching on D would be a lot easier with a 6'0" guard with talent. Her shooting stroke did look really smooth and essentially, she only played half a year. Given Auburns injury woes the fact that she was able to play a lot as a 1/2 year freshman should translate well into starting her sophomore season as a more dependable talent. I would love to land Deng.
