You can also add Rori Harmon to that list. This year she has not been player she was prior to injury.
I haven't watched Texas this year - was not aware of that - what a shame she was the energizer bunny on the court - so sad - hope she recovers enough to go make some money overseas.

Because of these knee injury concerns, I hope that we take five healthy guards in the portal. We probably won't, but I hope that we do. We played all five guards this year a lot. I would hope that Nicki isn't banking on her first injury free year since her first season.

Saw this on the OK board: Seeing rumors that Johnnie Harris is going to Baylor as an assistant and Deng may also follow to Baylor. Harris is Auburn coach. Deng is a player from China. https://auburntigers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/player/yuting-deng

Just seen a Lsu page say something similar as well.

Interesting!! Wow! Can't wait to hear more on this.

I think Harris was the lead recruiter for the Aggies under Blair, then she went to Miss St with Schaefer and handled his recruiting.

We need excellent recruiters!! It's been a weakness last few years as we lost out on several key prospects. I remember Johnnie Harris on Vic Schafer's staff!!

I know nothing about Harris other than I think I saw on another thread she was fired from Auburn.. Any concerns on this? Like I said, I know nothing about her or why she was fired. Sometimes people are great assistants, but just can't handle the head coaching gig.

Regarding Harris…sounds like she was sabotaged by a school that didn't support WBB. Harris was bringing in #16 recruiting class without financial support. Good recruiter.

Deng is a good player. Watched her hit 27 point one game . Nice size and led auburn in 3 point shooting.

Would be nice if it's true but at the same time we don't wanna get to caught up in rumors to get our hearts hurt.

The AD who hired her got fired. New AD wanted their guy/gal. Many such cases

Schaefer was known at MS State for focusing on recruiting within the state and doing very well. He would follow players from middle/high school, like Madison Booker. If Johnnie was a part of that, she could do well with us.

Vic Schaefer's top recruiter is Elena Lovato, Assistant Head Coach, she also was with Vic at Mississippi State, See her long resume on the UT Athletic website. She is one of the best recruiters in the country. Also one of the highest paid assistant WBB coaches and worth it.

Larry Vickers already hired as new HC. I would say that gives credence to your sabotaged theory.

Wasn't me exactly. People who follow Auburn sports were saying it. Little NIL and you bring in #16 recruiting class and you fire her? I'd hire her.

Auburn fired old AD and hired a new one. New AD hired Larry Vickers. Probably hoping Vickers can hold the class together. I think Harris has a good reputation among coaches & players. We'll see how it all plays out.

Shavers is a good player. I'd consider her a backup target to some great players.

Shavers shoots FG 36.2%, 3PT 32.7 and FT 85.7, good athlete, Mesquite Horn HS, First Team All State, ESPN Hoopgurlz #55 as a Senior, may have two years remaing, next move will be her third school.

Played summer travel ball for former Dallas Mavericks Star, Jason Terry. Unfortunately I have not seen her play. Maybe BU would have an interest.

Rumors Mikayla Williams is entering as well. She would immediately be the top portal player available. Granted just rumors at this point. The ones here in Ames about crooks ended up being a big nothing burger. But you never know in this day and age.

Mikayla and Sa'Myah are both players I hope we pursue. Both liked Baylor a lot but that was under CKM. DLB played on the same Mavericks team as Mikayla and Sa'Myah is a Desoto player. Sure hope we try!

We have such a better history, both recent and past. They have been better this year. There will be the flavor of the day, but they are losing their top players and next year will be a reset no matter who they get just like us. If we get the players, I hope we do, I will feel very good about our chances.

Well, everyone likes to play for a winner.

And right now, TCU looks like they are building something special.

Which is why losing to them this year might have hurt us more than we realize.

We had a chance to announce to the country that the Big XII still runs through Waco, Texas.

But unfortunately, we fumbled the bag.

If I were a player coming up, TCU might be more appealing than Baylor at the moment.

I mean, TCU was literally holding open tryouts just last year. Yet they didn't make excuses and turned it around in one year.

Meanwhile, we're underachieving with the talent we have and are making excuses left and right for many of the poor coaching decisions taking place.

We'll see how things play out soon enough.

They bought a team for a year. We shall see. I remain an optimistic BU WBB season ticket holder.

I think we overachieved with the talent we had this year. I ask again:

  • Who did we have that is more effective at the post than Prince?
  • Who on the team is better than Van Lith?
  • Who on the team is better at being a consistent shooter at a high percentage than Connor?
Are we more talented than a UCLA team that we played even for the last 35 minutes of the game and is the overall #1 seed. I don't think you will find many agreeing on that.

Implying that our talent level was undercut by our coaching is just not true. It is in fact the opposite. That coaching got more out of our talent than is there even with the injuries that occurred during the season forcing players to take on new roles outside of their normal positions and playing patterns. Saying our talent underachieved fits an agenda, but it is just not true.
