Any speculation on whether any of our players will enter the portal? Taliah would be the most likely, I'd guess, and also would be the one it would hurt the most to leave. (Although I suspect she's staying.) It wouldn't surprise me to see Nelms bolting.

I hope Nelms stays; she proved her worth every time she stepped on the court. Wish she had played more, and I'm sure she does as well. She and Kyla are the only seasoned veterans, everyone else besides Ines arrived last year.

I assume Taliah will be by far the most expensive to retain and probably the most sought after. I would think the staff at BU would want that all locked up one way or another (stay or transfer) by early this coming week. To be effective, you need to know what you have and what you need well before the portal opens. Also, if you know what it took to retain whatever portion of the roster you retain, you will know the cost. That will leave you with a known amount of NIL/revenue share that can be used to build out the rest of the roster.

I think the points Adriacus has made on here about roster construction are spot on and generally shared by the WBB staff at Baylor - PG who can take care of the ball and create, multiple shooters and some type of post options on the offensive and rebounding side of the ball. Easy to say, but harder to do managing a budget. Given the later portal opening and our exit from the tournament, I expect good things from the portal early for Baylor, regardless of who stays/goes. There will be a lot of talent available and BU can capture their fair share - just a question of NIL/rev share allocation. Do you spend big on 2 players and find a bunch of options to piece together vs 5 players that are all about the same but no real stars. I think Baylor will be much more analytical this portal season given there should not be a huge spend other than Taliah to retain the roster - unlike last year with Bella, Buggs and Jana. Lots of decision making to come. I am optimistic at the moment that we have a shot to get some high quality transfer. the spring is always full of HOPE

Just saw a note that Sytia Messer (who used to be an assistant at Baylor) is expected to be fired by UCF. Another new coach headed to the Big 12 next season

OU and OSU are both under a huge microscope on athletic spending. The ADs at both schools recently had meetings to inform folks that budgets would be trimmed significantly in the upcoming weeks.

Oklahoma governmental entities in general are very focused on cost cutting. Folks doing business with the state have been sent Heads Up on likely reduced spending and speed on projects. Budget Hawks are on the warpath.

Frankly all of the "entering transfer portal" and player's disingenuous, insulting, endearing posts about doing so are tiring. Save us the ridiculous drama - Its about getting a bigger paycheck - PERIOD.

The (wide) open portal and NIL are (HAVE) killed college athletics for 98% of the programs. Players, just get on with your job search....we know why you're doing it.
