I think I know the answer, but thought I would throw it out as a chance to see if the gurus on the platform may know. Do we know if we are actively targeting anyone in the portal? We need a good PG, someone that is considered a sharp shooter.

Deng leaving basically confirms a massive overhaul of roster building format.

Buggs, Fontleroy, Deng, Big Johnson, JVG, Pemberton………decent pile of NIL money freed up.
Expecting a significant buy at PG, two to three solid buys at Combo, SG and Wing, two value buys at 4.

Heavy emphasis on creators and shooters. Program doesn't have unlimited funds and needs to spend money in the places most likely to deliver high value.

The money dump on Buggs, Fontleroy, Deng & Pemberton (who were somewhat duplicative in size and skill) while not spending at PG can't be repeated.

There is filling the positions and there is where the money is allocated/spent.

Counting numbers at positions is easy. Deciding where to spend the money is the key decision.

I agree - the key will be getting a few top tier players - especially PG - makes everything / everyone else better with a good PG. Once you determine what you want your identity to be with the top tier types you can recruti, then you value shop everything else around that as supporting cast. TCU does a great job of playing a 2 person game a lot with Center/Forward and PG and spreading 3 others around the floor as shooters. Everything keys off those 2 positions / players. BU needs to determine that and get players in that style. But everyone needs a good PG (QB) so that is why they are premium - will be interesting to see what BU puts together over the next couple of weeks.

It depends on the offensive scheme.

for example:
UCLA and UConn run Action to Action O and thus are happy with larger PGs who can shoot.
UT and SC run dribble drive focused O and therefore need smaller quicker PGs.

Count me among the crowd wanting CNC to jump forward to A2A O.
But whatever she runs, recruit to that system…..don't repeat this year of running a system without the key component.

Who do you like for those 2 roles currently in portal or are we waiting for that player to show?

We need a very good PG to pair with Taliah. We have been limited there since Sarah got hurt although Jada performed well, esp her Jr year.

My best guess…..and it is a guess based on current portal crowd and last year's portal entry announcements…..is that eight of the top ten Portal PGs have yet to announce.

Equally important, the 2026 market price for top PGs has yet to be set.
That item will determine if we are fighting for number 2, number 5, number 8, or peeing our pants.

Interesting to track these previous contacts as they enter portal, Scotty B. Another connection that might be interesting is who all Coach Harris recruited at Auburn who ended up somewhere else. Since she is supposed to be a great recruiter, those past connections with her at Auburn might bear fruit for us, hopefully.
