have some coaches following her already. She wanted minutes and that's one thing we have to offer for sure. She could really dominate the big 12. She is 5'10 and i think could really play that Wing Spot well for us. She is aggressive getting down hill and dominate on defense. The only person willing to guard Tessa

Yes! I think she would be very good and certainly has an opportunity to get a lot of minutes here! Seems like she would be a great fit for Nicki's system.

According to multiple LSU insiders, Hines was doing well at LSU and was primed for increased minutes next year. She is close with 2 players and wanted to stay at LSU, and went on social media couple days ago saying she was staying at LSU. She told Kim Mulkey the same. Then everything changed when her father and agent got involved, father wanted her to have bigger bag. She is currently on multi-year NIL contract with Michael Jordan brand, including monthly cash, merch, etc. Father and agent controlling the decision and the $$.

so he went on a bunch of fans talking on X live stream basically saying they had some talks yesterday about what next season looks like in terms of role and they were seeming vague in their response. As if they were in the portal looking for someone to take the "minutes" she should get. He never mentioned money but more so he was loyal until the loyalty was not reciprocated.

That's IF you believe him. She got big minutes as a Freshman for Mulkey. That alone tells you Mulkey had big plans for her. He also talked about the guards ahead of her and having trouble finding starter minutes. Comes with the territory. Big time programs typically have big time players. If he was trying to get a guaranteed starting role I imagine that was shot down quickly
Brusinbear2001

and that's IF you believe the money issue from a random fan or a father protecting anonymous accounts on X bashing a 19-20 year old college student for a decision she and her parents thought was best for her.

Bella posted a video on her social media with Mulkey literally saying she wasn't leaving. It's fairly obvious what's happening here. And by all accounts the dad runs the show. Hard pass for me. Players with parents calling the shots are never a good idea

he mentioned it was because conversations yesterday did not match the ones held previously. Probably before she went on that interview saying everyone is returning but 1. Now the portal is open and the new shiny things can change that for a team as well. Especially when you are breaking down last year issues and people can fill those needs immediately i think in this two things can be true.

* also to add the video was like right before the tournament i want to say during watch party. What was the girl supposed to say yes i am leaving but im finishing it out this year.

I think she is a good player, she is a hard nose ready to defend person our squad will lack now without Buggs so i wouldn't mind looking that way.

She's absolutely a good player. And Baylor has absolutely no shot of landing her. And I'm ok with that. Always always stay away from players whose parents are running the show. I can't think of a single good example of parents running the show for their child that ended up as a net positive
Brusinbear2001
How long do you want to ignore this user?
who do we have a shot at landing then in your opinion?

As I said earlier, inside LSU people have said this and are usually accurate 9 of 10. Father and agent have made the decisions since high school, including her NIL. Bella wanted to stay at LSU, but father wanted guarantees playing time and big NILs. It is about $$ on this one and guarantees. Mulkey isn't going to guarantee anything, you have to earn playing time. Example, their PG Richard freshman year avg only 6.7 min, 2.8 pts. Instead of leaving, she worked her tail off in off-season to prove worthy of earning starting PG 2nd year, she beat Fulwiley for starting PG. Bella Hines FR year avg 13.2 min, 4.2 min, pretty good time for FR in SEC. Father and agent will say whatever they want, but there are 2 sides to this story, and big $$ is involved.

Virtually anyone not solely in the portal for a bag. CNC has landed some darn good players through the portal. I expect that will continue. What I don't think Baylor will do is toss unreasonable bags at unproven players. There's a ton of really good players in the portal who are going to be affordable and proven. Bet Baylor gets a few of those.

I feel in this portal era you have to kinda promise something, because you won't pay someone what they are wanting for you to not see them getting on the floor. Whether that is 6th man for example you gonna stand by this especially if big money is involved.

We recruited her out of high school.

Isn't she the third player from UT to enter? Seems a bit strange coming off a successful season.

They have the number 2 recruiting class coming in next year with two solid players at the wing. They would have likely started and been a focus of the offense, but they would spend another year behind Booker in regards to media attention and NIL money. Likely exploring options to see if they can get more elsewhere. As I've mentioned on numerous occasions, everyone points to Texas as having all the money to get whoever they want etc. They don't. And the women's program isn't getting what people think they are getting. Everyone has limits.

Mulkey also might have overstepped telling a podcaster during an interview that everyone is staying and that she will be in the portal looking for a guard, wing, and a big that are all difference makers. If you are looking to up your minutes, and feel that a coach is out there looking for older, immediate impact players, you might test out the portal. Mulkey thought everyone was staying and LSU has two players in the portal. Maybe she meant just her key contributors would she said everyone. Who knows.

The thing about Campbell……he decides who he wants, strikes fast and hard.
Five gets you ten he has his PG committed within the week.
After that he will value shop for support pieces.

Maybe Baylor WBB should learn something.

TCU has had high profile last two seasons--getting premier players through portal that produce, making Elite 8 two years in a row, and apparently a huge bag of cash.

The thing is….it isn't rocket science.

Any HEB shopper can testify to the process.
Grab your Must Haves first and put them in your basket, then you know how much you have left to spend on Wants.

if the market only has five elite PGs, the likelihood of the price increasing as that number decreases is VERY high. Strike First.

Baylor doesn't tend to be proactive. Baylor rarely is ahead of the curve.
The Baylor institutional tendency to be Slow and Steady is deep.

Top teams locking in priority targets. What a concept.

If Baylor doesn't have a top PG committed by Sunday it is a Massive failure.

It could be the recruiting class coming in for Texas possibly as the reason why. We recruited her out of high school.

Aaron Sternecker is following Jordan Lee.

Lee, Crunp, Carlton are all players you put feelers out on. If their asking price is reasonable you jump all over that.

I would love to be a fly in the wall in meeting with CNC. She has a brilliant BB IQ, and would love to know her thoughts. We have to get a couple of sharp shooters mid range and 3 point. We also need a very good PG general.

What are everyone's thoughts?

My thought is that unless she already has someone signed and just hasn't been made public, she's already late. And on year six, she should know better. Our needs are too obvious and there re ton many high quality players out there to be bypassing them at this stage. Spend the money and loc in your core needs/pieces.

I am also worried that being in the Big 12 is going to be a pretty big negative for a lot of the really good players …. The SEC and Big 10 are the premier conferences.

There are 3 major flaws with all of Collens teams to this point.

High turnover ratio
Poor shooting % vs anyone with a pulse
Lack of a threat down low

We need some more consistent shooters
A PG that can create
A presence down low that can take pressure of the shooters

Defense has always been a strength and fun to watch at times. If we had a consistent offense that didn't start every game shooting 1-15, we likely win the conference a few times the last few years.

My concern is…this isn't the W free agency. Small pool of players, more defined process. This is the Wild West. Huge pool of players, most teenagers, being lead by agents looking for a payday, much like the players they represent. Hit the pool hard and quick (ala tcu). Hope CNCs approach reflects the reality of college "free agency".

That stinks. Was really hoping we would look at Somfai. They sure do get top adds.
