This is surprising...figured Staley or another SEC or Big10 team would win out. OSU has a lot more spots to fill unless they have good incoming freshmen.

Kim Mulkey will be all over it. They need 2 forwards from the portal. She is close friend of Shaq. LSU will probably be front runner. They will get special NIL for her.

If I remember correctly, after Shaq's divorce he didn't speak to his children for several years.
Think that item was a large topic of discussion when this daughter was being recruited in high school.

Currently we only have 10 players available for next year. Thats with marcayla out assuming she wouldn't play this year.

Agreed. I'd hope we bring in another big and a wing to go with Skylar. If Lorena gets in foul trouble we'll have a huge problem and drop-off in offense.

I'm not sure, but I would hope so since we will need it and we won't have any depth if we get into foul trouble at any position. If we can afford it, I believe we still need three more players. Everything esle might use some depth, but the pg position is good.

Additionally, I assume that the staff remains in contention for Trinity after acquiring Skylar. They are going to be competing for a starting position, but her addition would elevate this squad to a whole new level.

That's the devil in the details.....depth. Potential players may be looking for money, but most of the one and done types are looking for playing time. Depth just says you either have to share or you darn better be the best. That probably doesn't appeal to many of these. They expect to play if they are worth getting in the first place. They would not be coming here so we can have depth as they sit on the bench watching others play. This would be their last year. They are looking for time to show scouts what they could do at the next level (wherever that is) or wanting to play to end their careers.

Really sad we let Audi get away to OSU. She is plug and play 20 plus points per game . Opens up three point shot with inside threat. ESPN had her as number 1 portal grab. Surprised OSU paid up.

OSU will have the #1 scorer and the #2 scorer next season. This changes everything for one season for them. Someone came in and put up the big bucks for those two. Money buys teams these days. OSU really was not that good a team in the past, but these two brings them up to elite level next season. They will be much better team. Will be interesting if they will be pre-season top 10.

Crooks is pretty much the exact opposite of what the staff have been going after in the portal this year.

We've been pretty clearly going after more athletic players who fit existing roles in the way we already play.

Crooks does not do that. She is a great scorer, but if you watched ISU, the way she plays offense is only really effective with her in isolation. She can get a bucket and they started off the year really really well. But that's not been the way Coach Collen has been attempting to run offense. She would have to rebuild the offense from the ground up for one player for one year, when you already have the centerpiece of your existing offense in Scott.

And then the defensive side is non-existent. Crooks is a great scorer in college but unless she becomes a much better and more conditioned athlete, she has no place in the WNBA, though she may make a roster with the expansions happening.

I'm happy to let OSU throw money at her. They may get preseason ranking from name hype. And I'll have fun watching them score, Crooks is fun to watch do her thing in the half court offense, but I don't see that going any better than it did for ISU this year.

OSU's pieces are not necessarily a great fit.
McGill is an elite defender but scores through volume shooting. Her efficiency is bad. 43% shooting, 26% from 3.
Crooks is great on O but a TERRIBLE defender. Crooks also totally clogs the lane. McGill likes to dribble drive.

The bulk of OSU's production from last season graduated or portaled out.
They are starting over with pieces which might not fit together.

Not seeing how they really improve on their B12 standings position.

I'm with you on this one. Feel the coach grabbed the best individual players should could for a price she could pay. They don't seem to mesh well. Could be a total fiasco. And, I mean, Crooks was on what I thought to be a well balanced Iowa State team that ended up doing absolutely nothing once conference started. Time will tell. But I just can't see it on paper at this point.
