Well I mean starting experience in the sec with multiple years and a productive player. Yes 3 point shooting dipped some in terms of percentage but look at her freshmen year. It's not mentioning overall shooting percentage too. I would absolutely try to get her if possible.

Tap the brakes on Thienou until more info is out.

She had a TERRIBLE statistical year. TERRIBLE.
As a Sophomore her shooting % dropped from 50% to 37% and her 3 pt shooting dropped from 36.5% to 27.3%.
MPG increased slightly from 25.6 to 28.3 so it isn't a usage issue.
Her PPG correspondingly dropped from 10.5 to 9.7
She did see slight improvements in rebound, assist and turnover rates but only slight ones.

Definitely need to know why her shooting dropped so badly. Yikes those drops are bad.

i also wanna say she was injured too so not sure if she was playing through that at all for a period of time or not.

could the issue be fewer attempts?

She did have a bone bruise this year.

but her ability to defend to me is overcoming that stat. Also i feel Ole Miss doesn't run plays to shoot many threes. I feel she would fit and she has 2 years so it would be someone to grow with.

Ole Miss taking both Civil and Cooper from UT Vols at the wing is a big indicator that Ole Miss saw issues.

Elite defense doesn't overcome those shooting rates. Those rates aren't merely bad, they are horrific.

then don't have her shoot them, or use the offseason to fix it. Her athleticism is great probably the exact opposite player type that Ting was. And look how that worked out.

Important to differentiate in obtaining a rotation player and a reclamation project.

you first buy the rotation and then use the crumbs (if any) to build a deep bench of potential or reclamation.

you can't rotation such a poor shooter. Playing 4 on 5 on offense is basically death against any competent team.

she can put pressure and get to the rim, which we did not do last year outside of Taliah. We will be looking to get back to that and she can do it. She had a shot that was atleast respectable at one point. And it's not like it isn't something that can improve. But say you have Tianna and Taliah on the court together that's two lethal shooters, we could have her to add pressure on the rim. And she could be the top of the defense. It's like Buggs but more a guard.

I think Coach Tony has ties to Ole Miss as well.

You're going too hard on her down year in shooting. It's 1:1 on her years (one really good year to one down year). If you're going to ho so hard on her down year, you've got to keep that same energy on her really good year as well until you know or are shown otherwise. You can't just dismiss and disregard the good over one equivalent factor (1:1). She's shown who she is and what she can do. Someone just needs to find out what happen and provide a "resolution" for the issue.

The Lincolns had one good night at the theatre and one bad night, you must treat them as equal. Maybe not.

My point was simple…..this wasn't an "off year". Off years are drops of 4-5%. This was a cliff. Understand what happened before getting excited doesn't seem outrageous except to folks on a sports board.

so with your theory Bella she went from 32% to 25% in the span on one season would you determine because of that she was not helpful to the team at all? I mean Coach started her every game. It's because s
of her ability to play defense. it matters because there is two sides of the ball.

Really weird logic.

From the wide portal universe who do you sign v on a limited roster who do you play

But using that weird logic…..Fontleroy (institutional knowledge, decent defender but broken shot) v Pemberton (bad in every facet of the game) v Deng (sometimes shot is falling, sometimes not but always a minus defender).

That scenario is picking your poison.

Hopefully a portal signing is picking the best race horse.
If Baylor is Portal shopping to find the least worst option, that is horrid. But that scenario was last season almost every step. No ball handling, limited shooting, size limits, depth issues in abundance. See the difference?

Sira will most likely be top 15-20 players in the portal. Whoever gets her is getting a player with a lot of upside, she is a player that could play in the W. She was what Ole Miss was going to build a team around and Coach Yo started getting greedy from the outside looking in. She could make a lot of noise in the Big 12.

Hearing Tennessee and Georgia for her hoping we can sneak in there.

You affirmed my point with one word: "upside".

At this point Baylor needs to focus on deliverability more than upside.

but it's true she is from Mali, where the development for players is a tad different from the US. But to have the numbers in the SEC that she did i would entertain her being a part of Baylor WBB we could use her, and even help expose her to. more pro style offense. She has played in tournaments like Afrobasket and represents her country. If my mind serves me right she and Madison Scott were huge differences in the game in Waco 2 seasons ago.

Coach Yo…"Sira starts our defense," McPhee-McCuin said. "Sira rebounds for us. She was shooting 45% from the field, almost 40% from the 3. She was our lead defender. She averaged five rebounds a game. That's what we're missing.". This concerning the O'Miss loosing skid to end the regular season while Sira was out with a bone bruise. Not sure about those percentages. Nevertheless, looks like an impact player to me.

Where she is from, what she did in Africa, what she did against Baylor two years ago, etc. do not explain why her shooting was atrocious this year. They don't.

Why is the concept of Due Diligence so difficult?

1) find out what the problem is/was
2) find out whether the problem remains and/or is likely to remain in future
3) determine if the problem is curable
4) determine how long any cure might take
5) determine the likelihood of cure vs likelihood of problem remaining.

Every venture applies Due Diligence principles continuously.
Again, why is that concept so baffling?

No offense, but CNC's inability to coach up a single transfer to this point means that she cannot invest in an "upside" player. What we are getting is likely the best they will ever perform in a Baylor uniform. The history is just glaring at this point.

a player that is worthy of 1st team all big 12 is worth that due diligence, and taking that shot. If she was a bear she is easily one of the top 3 players on the roster.

the OP…….slow down, find out why her shooting % plummeted.
a chain of back and forth…….and now you opine "is worth that due diligence".

why were you arguing?

Brusinbear2001

and we cant really afford another proven player so do we just stop in getting the portal and role with like what 10-11 players? All because the fans don't wont anyone here that has the potential to be a star and hasn't proven it according to them all based on 3 pt shooting. Buggs didn't even attempt threes for 95% of her career. She had one bad year and now it's like don't even try to look at a player like that. It's weird, as if we are in contention for a national championship with this roster or something and she would ruin it.

i feel your argument shifted into do not try on her because of a bad shooting year. and to me it doesn't make sense.

What's baffling is your assumption that this due diligence hasn't been done. Unless you are part of discussions of staff, of course.
