If I'm talking to you and I randomly tear up, it's not you! It's because the Astros are WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

Let's continue to pray, that God almighty will bless Lunhow with clarity and excellent judgement. That we may continue this run of dominance.

It does seem to be Divine Providence that Houston should wreck the title hopes of teams from both New York and California, and bring sweet solace to Texas.

God blessed Noah after the flood. Noah built an altar and sacrificed burnt offerings upon it.

The burnt offerings were 2011-2015 seasons perhaps.

Genesis 9, verses 2-3.

It's going to be a tough call ... opening day for the Astros or Baylor basketball in the NCAA Championship game.

Is anyone else going through something akin to Postpartum Depression now that Baseball Season is over?

Actually, no. I'm still happy about the season we just saw. The Astros were so much fun to watch this year.

A little bit. Between that and catching up on Stranger Things and other shows, I've been up late for a month and a half.

sounds like us... we are 3 episodes behind on almost everything we watch because of the WS.

We have finished Ray Donovan, caught up on Walking Dead and This Is Us.... but we are still 3 down on the others and haven't even started Stranger Things, which is really making my son mad...

I remember this strange feeling when Dallas would win their SuperBowls in the 90's. Its like you wanted more but you knew you got to the top. There was no finality like there was for every other team when you actually got knocked out of the race. Very strange indeed.

Opening day on 2/16. Not too far off.

Carlos Beltran retiring is not surprising. I hope the Astros make the move to make him the bench coach in replacement of Alex Cora. He already was kind of one anyway this season plus he wants to be a manager sometime in the future. I'm not sure if he wants to take some time off first, but this would be a great transition spot.

Kyle Tucker had a monstrosity of a game. I like what Im seeing so far from the farm system. Hope Whitley comes in healthy.

I thought the exact same thing when I read Beltran was retiring, but I heard they already made their hire regarding bench coach. Maybe I heard wrong? Regardless, need to find a way to keep Carlos with organization, if possible. One issue might be that he resides in New York, according to his farewell to baseball letter...

Learned today that Coach Rod arranged for the BU baseball team to see one of the ALCS games in a suite at MinuteMaid. Big XII said doing so would be a no no, so he had Compliance folks get with NCAA. They said it was fine, and to enjoy the game.

http://m.astros.mlb.com/news/article/261877580/aj-hinch-3rd-in-al-manager-of-year-award/

I know the voting it done before the Postseason but Hinch not winning AND coming in 3rd is absurd. Astroscounty blog put it best:

"I mean, Hinch had the division won by June, dealt with all those injuries, and a hurricane but hooray Twins and a 22-game win streak!"

I've always found the Manager of the Year award to be a bit silly. Outside of pitching changes, the bulk of the manager's work is done behind closed doors in the clubhouse. The real measure of managerial success has always been championships. I'm sure Dusty Baker would trade his three manager of the year awards for a ring.

Taking the Twins from 103 losses to the postseason, Molitor absolutely deserves it. That's unreal.

the Twins won 83 the year before and were expected to take the next step up in 16. 103 loses was one of the worst failures in recent memory....they just weren't that bad a team...

But AJ finishing 3rd lowers my expectations for Altuve... while NY only gets 2 votes just like every other AL city, they have an entire network devoted to showing their highlights and talking about them all season... It wouldn't surprise me if some of the writers never saw Altuve play till the playoffs.

ESPN has been touting Judge all season. Hope it didn't sway too many of the lazier voters.
