McGregor gets his arse kicked! I love it!

Strikers always leave that forward leg exposed. And Poirier played it perfectly, calf, knee, knee, calf... beautiful

Never seen in pro MMA history, Aljamin Sterling wins the UFC title as Petr Yan was disqualified for a knee kick to the head while Sterling's knee was on the ground... Jan had destroyed Sterling for 3 of the 4 rounds to that point and Sterling was about to go down

Huge fight tonight, Miocic vs Ngannou, #2. Stipe whupped him in the first fight but he will be giving up about 30 lbs tonight. Ngannou swings from the upper rafters. I would not want to see one of those fists coming at my head

This is for the UFC Heavyweight belt

omg, that was nasty. Chris Weidman demolished his leg on his first kick. Snapped it like a twig against Uriah Hall.

Chris is a great guy. Came down to Dallas many times to the Machados as they are brothers in laws. Wonderboy was in his corener tonight I think

I'm curious as to what anyone's opinion is on catch wrestling? I don't know a whole lot about it. The only 2 guys I can think of that I know used it to success in recent years are Sakuraba and Josh Barnett. Both of them were trained by Billy Robinson.

Is it just not as effective as other ways of fighting on the ground? Is it not practiced as much because it's not as popular as other forms of fighting? Could it be more effective if trained more heaviIy. I would assume their are probably a lot more well practiced jiu jitsu teachers than well practiced catch wrestling teachers in todays age.

Catch wrestling was formed mainly for show. Traveling carnivals used it and it became what we know see on TV as professional wrestling. A good MMA fighter that knows say, brown belt level BJJ would destroy most of the holds.

One good thing that came out of it was that in Japan, it was the early form of Shoot wrestling. Shoot wrestling started the early forms of submissions (tapouts) that became part of Japanese BJJ. (Kodokan) taught by the Gracie brothers and early Machados (Carlos Machado gave me my first belt in BJJ)

Then why did Sakuraba do so well against jiu jitsu and submission fighters? Was he using a mixture of catch wrestling and bjj? Or is he just the exception to the rule?

You'll have to charge him and then just lay and pray and keep against fence. If he kicks you you may die.

He is the nicest guy you will ever meet. His dad, on the other hand, is one bad SOB. 'Toughest man in South Carolina'... corners him at many fights as does Carlos Machado

Thompson is sometimes to nice it seems.

Stephen Thompson's brother Tony Thompson is married to Chris Weidman's sister, making the two fighters brothers-in-law.
