That's a damn tough course. It can get away from you quickly there.

+6 (76) tied 128th; somehow beat about 12 other guys
Possibly his worst putting day ever - missed 6 putts of 7 feet or less, 3 putted 2 or 3 times, and the ugly 4 putt.

Big one this week….The Players Championship at Sawgrass.

Jimmy had a T2 here in 2018. Would love to see him make a Top 20 here and get some momentum going.

We are 40% of the way through the 2021-2022 season and JW is sitting at 177 in the FedEx. Needs to be somewhere inside the Top 125 to hold on to his card.

Sounds like he's still hungry to prove himself….this article came out 4 months ago

Why this major winner and Ryder Cupper thinks he 'underachieved'

November 17, 2021
To the casual viewer, 42-year-old Jimmy Walker has had a heck of a career. After two decades as a professional, Walker has amassed more than $26 million in earnings, has a major championship on his resume (the 2016 PGA) and five other career Tour wins. He played on two Ryder Cup teams, and a Presidents Cup team. Pretty impressive!

But in an appearance on this week's episode of Off Course with Claude Harmon, Walker says he still isn't satisfied with his accomplishments.

"I think I've probably underachieved," Walker said. "I just had some health setbacks that I would have loved to have not had. Who knows what could have happened? But that's how it's been.

"I'm very proud of what I've done and what I've accomplished," he continued. "I don't think I'm done yet. I'm starting to feel really good about golf again. I want more. So that's why I keep banging away at it."

The health setback Walker was referring to is his battle with Lyme disease, which began after Walker returned from a hunting trip in November 2016 but took months to officially diagnose.

At the time, Walker was playing some of the best golf of his life. He had won his first major, the 2016 PGA Championship, and spent most of the year ranked inside the top 30 after peaking at No. 10 in 2015.

"Every other week I just felt like I had the worst flu symptoms you could have, throughout your entire body," Walker said. "I felt horrible, I had no energy. I just felt so bad, these like weekly cycles. I would just get hit with it, and then it would go away."

Acting on a recommendation from his sports psychologist, Walker eventually had blood work done and tested positive for Lyme disease. The effects were devastating. Walker's depleted energy level made it difficult for him to practice, and he says he started struggling with basic things that had never been an issue before.

Luckily, Walker started an aggressive treatment plan and says he's in a much better place today. It appears things are looking up when it comes to Walker's recent results, too. After bottoming out at No. 551 in the world ranking, Walker is up to No. 324, and snagged his first top-25 finish since the Memorial by placing T24 at the Shriners Children's Open in October.

For more from Walker, including what it's like to be in the zone, and why the PGA Tour needs an offseason, check out the full interview below.

After a chip-in birdie on #7 Jimmy is now -2 (T8th)

He's now -2 through 7. Great start….unfortunately play has been stopped due to weather. Hope this doesn't kill his momentum.

The forecast the next 3 days is not good. Probably going to be a lot of starts and stops.

-3 thru 13 holes (T6th)

Jimmy finished with a -2 (70) which is T19th; but only about half the field finished, some guys only played 1,2. or 3 holes.

Finished -2 and T19…..but none of the guys in the PM group finished because of weather. This is going to be a mess the next few days.

Still…..a good start for Jimmy

They are waaaay behind, still didn't finish round 1. About 40 or so players still need to finish round 1 before round 2 starts Sat morning.

Yep….total wash out.

I think Jimmy has an advantage being in the house done with round 1. The PM guys from Thursday will most likely play all day tomorrow finishing their R1 and starting their R2. Wind supposed to be up to 39 mph tomorrow. Jimmy can watch the carnage from his hotel room. He probably won't play until Sunday.

Right now the tournament officials say they are looking at a Monday finish around 6PM EST

Well….maybe Jimmy's wave will have its own weather challenges

JW won't tee off in round 2 until 6:30pm ET; probably finish 2 or 3 holes then shut it down until Sunday morning.

Man….this has been a great tourney for Jimmy so far.

A lot of guys moving the wrong direction today….but Jimmy is -1 on his round through the turn and -3 T13 for the tourney.

He started on the back so he's already safely past the dangerous 17th and 18th with pars.

Keep it rolling JW! TCU alum Hoge is the leader at -7
boognish_bear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Dang it….Jimmy misses a 6' birdie putt that would have gotten him to -4 and T8
boognish_bear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I jinxed him…..Jimmy found a couple of bogeys coming in and ended at -1 for the tourney after R2 and T35.

Still in good position to get a T25 and a nice payday and FedEx points.

He's 6 strokes back of Burns and Hoge.

Jimmy tees off his R3 in about 10 minutes. He should be able to almost finish his 3rd round today.

What a strange tournament this has turned into. round three finally complete. JW is at -2 and T35.

He has already teed off on the first hole for his final round. Lets get a Top 25 Jimmy.
boognish_bear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Jimmy with a bogey and two birdies through five holes so far on his fourth round.

-3 and T30

If this wasn't such a big tournament with a huge purse i think they would've called it after 54 holes; could be wrong - just my feeling.

I think you are right. It is crazy what the players had to play through on Saturday. This has been a cluster.

Another bird for JW. Nice start. He is starting on the back today so he is about to go to the dangerous 17th hole.

-4 and T24 through 7
MrGolfguy
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Good times are gone; JW has played his last 6 holes +5. He's at +4 on the day, +2 total, outside the top 50.

That is really a shame… He had himself in really nice shape about halfway through his round

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Finished T55th after a 76

He moved up a few spots in FedEx Cup rank from 177 to 172.

55th place earned him 7 FedEx points. 20th place would have been 51 points.

At least it's the right direction.

Valspar Championship at Innisbrook this week (will be totally overshadowed by hoops).
Jimmy getting right back on the horse & giving it another go.

Jimmy has had some good outings here semi recently. He was T29 last year and T28 in 2018.

Let's get that T20 Jimmy.

Jimmy birdies his first hole… Always a great way to start a round

What's even better that starting with a birdie? Starting birdie birdie. Jimmy -2 through 2.
