And killed 6 people including three 9-year old students. Rot in Hell.

Hundreds of millions of guns in our country and massive non compliance with any future legislation aimed at guns. European/Western countries as evidence it would work is nonsense because of population size and culture.

It's insane to even suggest gun control. It would probably make the problem worse.
If your culture means you have to have armed Guards, Metal Detectors and other "security" features at schools, then maybe your culture is the problem here?

Gun control isnt insane, letting regular citizens own High Powered Semi-Automatic Rifles with High capacity Magazines and all kinds of ammo designed to make them more lethal to Humans is what is insane

What's insane is committing cultural suicide then being surprised at the consequences.

Our "culture" didn't need metal detectors and security guards in schools 40 years ago, yet guns were everywhere. What changed?

Our culture was its most violent 40 years ago. Violent crimes are down massively since then. And gun ownership is way up. But school shootings are also up. So what's the cause of incidents like today?

Guns in the hands of the mentally unstable has always been a recipe for disaster. Too bad we can't have honest discussions about the mental health issues of transgenderism.

Why do we care if transgender are mentally ill? In state after state in the south, we are are removing background checks.

If we believe everyone should have a gun with unlimited capacity, (until we can prove they're crazy) then that means everyone.

Or we can do background checks. We can force safer guns. We can restrict magazine size.

Another one. And we all know it's actually another one today and we will have another one this week and another school shooting before the end of the school year.

What's crazier? A person who wants to cut off their dick or that we keep having people walking into elementary schools and shoot children with AR rifles?
If you can clearly identify someone with a mental health disorder, why wouldn't you take extra precautions with them? Putting mass shootings aside, they are killing themselves at a much higher clip and suicidal tendencies are a clear indicator for potential other violence.

So, you support keeping guns away from mentally ill people? Do you also support safe storage laws in homes "in case" a home has a mentally ill resident (or a child) that isn't the gun owner?

This is absolutely a hate crime and should be treated no different than if this was a Jewish synagogue that was shot up. Instead the left ecourages this behavior and there will be no tweet from the ADL condemning this terrorism bc they hate Christians.

I don't have a gun in my house, but I don't want everyone in town to know that. The fact that many people in my neighborhood do have a weapon will give pause to some who would want to come in to my house.

So you are saying your culture is just as bas since you have armed security all over your country, at the airport, etc?

Semi automatic is a term most people (like you don't understand). Almost every gun is semi automatic. All it means is that when you pull the trigger one bullet comes out and the gun gets the next ready to shoot without you having to manually pull a bolt back to get it ready.

high capacity magazine is also stupid. in no other area would 10 be considered a large amount.

What purposed gun control measure would have stopped this?
Well the details on this particular incident aren't even known yet, so knowing what would have stopped "this" isnt possible
Mexico has the strictest gun control laws in all of the world. Their country of 126 million people had a total of 30,968 homicides in 2022. The United States, made up of 327 million people, had 26,031 homicides in 2022.

Strict gun control laws only embolden the criminals and leave citizens much more vulnerable to violent crime.
Mexico has strict Gun Laws (though there are still an estimated 15 guns per 100 people in Mexico, which is about average compared to most other countries in the world, the ONLY country in the world with more than 40 guns per 100 people in population is the USA), sure, and a poorly combatted problem with organised crime, what about ALL the other countries with strict gun control laws, like Australia, Singapore, the UK, Germany, France, Japan, China etc.?
False- there are other countries with over 40 per 100 people. But don't let facts ruin your talking points.

china.... you really want to list China for gun control laws when they are the BIGGEST violator of human rights in the world and are in an active government sponsored genocide....

Unfortunately even the safety standards being discussed in the state (TX) legislature wont fully address this. One of the bills calls for all doors/windows to have that forced entry resistant film on it that prevents a window from being broken through with a brick, bat, or other blunt object but does not stop it from being shot out. Of course the only solution for that is bullet resistant windows and doors in all schools.

It does seem like a real increase in school shootings, not just "blasting horrible events like this on TV."

I am not arguing. The discussion is why that would be. I am saying the rise in wall to wall media coverage mirrors the rise in school shootings. There were many before Columbine, but both CNN and Fox recorded their highest ratings ever with their coverage of Columbine, and the rest is history. One of the many reasons prioritizing money making is incompatible with good fair journalism.
