He has changed political allegiances at least 5 times, whatever Party or lack of Party he can use for his benefit.

As for being a caricature, he does it to himself.

As President, he was fine up to about 2020, after that he just lost it. Since the 2020 election he has done as much to hurt this Nation as Biden. They both need to go.
They are going to go. They're going to go on the ballot.

Whether in a perfect world they should is a separate and entirely irrelevant question. At this point in time, that's your likely choices. And if that's the way it turns out, it's a very, very easy choice to make.

Trump never ran for office as a democrat. He also used to be in some form or another pro-abortion, but he and the Turtle put Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett on the Court and now Roe is gone. Things change. People change.

Now, if people can stop using Trump as some avatar for either everything wrong or everything right in society, we might be able to make some progress. Or we might be too far gone like the Roman Empire of old.

We are not getting rid of Trump or Biden anytime soon. They are a judgment on this nation as is the situation we are dealing with concerning both them and their possible second terms.

DJT's interview with Tucker last night got 170 million views. We will be dealing with Trump for as long as his health and continued interest in public life permits.

2020 is over. The Dems outplayed the GOP, plain and simple. You cannot re-do the 2020 election. You cannot go back after his term is 3/4 done and un-elect Biden. Dem won, GOP lost... Sooner MAGA comes to that conclusion and moves forward, the better. I agree with Haley and others you can't keep re-playing 2020.

GOP has played it right, look at the number of voting loop-holes that were closed since. Make sure it doesn't happen again, sure. All for it. Make sure GOP State Legislators know what to look for and to be deligent, all for it. In Florida, since the hanging-chad debacle, all voting has been modernized and processes have been clean, including extended hours and timeframes, absentee and protocols at voting locations. Other States have to do that.

What I am sick of, and it has to stop if we are going to go forward as a Nation, is re-living 2020. Trump is poison to the National identity and how he works up people on the past. He needs to go away.
"Outplayed" is quite the euphemism.

Focusing on the obvious fraud is not trying to re-do 2020. It's a necessary step to prevent the problems from costing us a chance to win 2024.

Dems never cease talking about 2000, 2016, etc...contested everything, alleged fraud and interference and all kinds of nonsense, all of it demonstrably not true. And they still win elections all the time. So the idea that because we are Republicans we cannot protest elections is, well.....it's poppycock.

You want the fraud to go away, do away with mail-in voting. Or require a mail-in ballot to be acquired at the county courthouse upon presentation of valid photo ID, with signature and a DNA sample. And outlaw voter harvesting. These are simple, "one man, one vote" protections that a vast majority of voters support.....
Focus on the rules and laws in place for 2024, that is useful. Many in the GOP have done that.

Continually complaining about something that is not going to be proved and may not have changed the outcome is counterproductive. Most of the MAGA have done the latter.

Democrats *****ed about 2000 mightily, and it didn't exactly hurt them. They went well beyond that after 2016 and it turned out ok for them.

*****ing about having a close election stolen is good politics, if you can sell it. Trump has. 2 out of 3 polled believe fraud affected the 2020 election.

The insanity is fighting against that narrative rather than making it work for you.

It doesn't matter, there are more against him than tolerate him. You keep applying logic. Trump hate is visceral. He could give every American 20k and it wouldn't matter, they hate the man personally. The GOP and MAGA continunally trying to shove Trump down America's throat will continue to up the ante to keep him from the White House.

I know more Republicans that will simply not vote if Trump is the nominee than will swallow their dislike and vote for him, mostly professional women and college educated men. Check your polls, both areas Trump polls poorly. You can call them names, say it is treason, but they ARE NOT voting for Trump again. MAGA may get him the nomination, Trump will keep the GOP from the White House. Haley gets it.

The truth doesn't matter unless you are in power and do something about it. The problem the GOP has is when in power they do nothing about it, see Hilary...

Running Trump does not put the GOP in power to do anything about 2020. We will run him, lose to Biden or Newsome by 7 million and 70 electoral votes and *****. It has become the conservative way...

Yeah, that seems to be pretty much it.

The argument is that because the other side did it, I can do it, too.

Yes, the Democrats lied about the 2000 election which Al Gore lost. Yes the Democrats lied about the 2016 election which Hillary Clinton lost. And, yes, they did things that were Nixonian in nature. (And certain Democrats made a joke of democracy within their candidate selection process in 2016). However, this does not justify lying about the 2020 election which Donald Trump lost.

Prosecutions of a political opponent is a dangerous precedent. Did Trump's actions rise to the level of requiring prosecution (and did his actions really call for impeachment while he was in office?) I guess we will find out, but we have also crossed a bridge where the standard for such actions has been drastically lowered. When the shoe is on the other foot, as it most assuredly will be, those who are celebrating today will have a bitter pill to swallow. I do not expect them recognize their role when that time comes.

Bull, the GOP had the Presidency, Senate, and HOR and did not do a thing. For two years, they GOP argued and got half of what they should have gotten done. So, no. I have no faith Trump or the GOP will do anything about based on history. The last GOP President that had balls was Reagan when he fired the Air Traffic Controllers.

You mean the truth about the 2020 election doesn't matter as long as the Big Lie works for you politically

And you are a leader in the Texas Republican Party

Yeah, that seems to be pretty much it.

The argument is that because the other side did it, I can do it, too.

If I misunderstood, I apologize. I thought it was about when the GOP gets in power they will go after Dems. Historically, has not happened. Dems much more likely to go after GOP.

Trump had Hilary dead to rights, walked away. Comey, FBI, etc... Nothing. Clinton bangng an intern was last GOP shot at Dems

I am with you. Beats the **** out of me.

I thought the three branches were equal and that a Senate trial was political and did not influence the judicial system. I would think that the Congress determining innocent or guilt to criminal charges would cross a whole host of lines...

I always thought that Congress cannot usurp the power of another branch of government and cannot investigate matters where the means of redress is purely judicial.

There are only two camps who are cheering on the prosecutions of Trump: progressives and neverTrumpers. That's expected. Both live in dream worlds of should & ought rather than what is.

Jonathan Turley has written articulately about the legal malpractice going on. But more and more people, even confirmed left-of-center types like Brett Weinsteain, are starting to realize the horror of what is unfolding, the patent tyranny of it all.

I was a skeptic the prosecutions would strengthen him to the degree they have. But it is increasingly obvious that the harder they push, the stronger they make him. And it should have been obvious all along - it does not take a rocket scientist to understand that if they will do this to Trump, they will do it to anyone who opposes them. As alarmed as I am watching it unfold, I am also reassured at the number of people who would not normally be part of my coalition agree that this kind of tyranny cannot be allowed to stand. The system is broken. It cannot be repaired until liberals recognize they have more in common with conservatives - a shared belief in classical liberalism - than they do with progressives, who see classical liberalism as a tool of oppression to be exterminated.

neverTrumpers are cheering on a feeding crocodile oblivious to the reality that it will soon turn to feed on them.

Cheering? A former President of the United States dragging the office through the mud, charged with planning to overthrow an election with evidence to a level a Grand Jury recommended indicting? No, not cheering. It is tragic and horrible that Trump allowed himself to be put in this situation. He lost the election and should have worked on succession, not pouting, throwing a temper tantrum that led to this. So, I am not cheering at all...
