I'm sure a lot of the budget when to housing the hoard of illegals.

I'll pray for them but California is reaping what they sow.
The limo liberals out here indeed get what they vote for. And a good percentage of that area that is up in flames is probably pretty liberal. Wouldn't surprise me.

For those residents, however, who voted the other way and tried to make a better choice for CA, I feel for what they are going to have to endure now.

California used to be a place where we could actually get a Republican governor.

Unfortunately, because CA is the most diversely beautiful state with the best weather, we have attracted a huge number of transplants over the past century who just HAD to live here.

And sadly the liberal nut burgers from out there across the USA, out there east of the Colorado River, have gradually outnumbered the rational conservative transplants over the last few decades.

I remember when CA, outside of Berkeley, the Haight and Hollywood, was actually somewhat normal. And even with that Democrat governor that would roll in, was still livable.

What is it about beautiful landscapes and great weather that attracts liberal nut jobs in such great numbers?

But now that they're here, and will continue to vote in people like this numbskull we have leading our state now, turning it back will be tough now. And our once beautiful state will pay for it. With policies that have led to this disaster facing the Palisades to continue.

Hopefully as more truths come out though, the limo liberals there, and along the Malibu coast, will come to an awakening. I doubt it though. It's too bad that they're smart enough to make the money it takes to live in places like Malibu and the Palisades and Pasadena, but they're not so smart or savvy when it comes to things political.

One can hope change is coming. Most of the time the limo liberals are immune from their idiotic virtue signaling decisions. But now their homes are burning down. The incompetence and crisis of leadership can no longer be covered up.

I have never understood why Mayors need to travel to other countries. Most of the time I don't even think they should travel to other states or cities. At least not on taxpayer funded trips. I can think of very few reasons why they would NEED to travel to these places. Even for the few business deals they might be trying to make to get a company to build a factory, move headquarters or see how another city does things doesn't require trips.

It's scary how easily the Left lies

As you said…California just had one of their wettest years in the past 3 decades

[The wettest year in California in the past 30 years was 2023, when the state received about 34 inches of rain in San Francisco. This was part of a wet season that replenished California's lakes and groundwater supplies, and filled reservoirs to 128% of average]

The past two years have been great for them….yet they mismanaged it

Plus by the next election cycle there will prolly be enough mind numbed indoctrinated CA voters who believe no matter what, anything is better than a Republican, and who will have forgotten this avoidable disaster, to insure the same bunch of dimcrat incompetents continue in power.

It is crazy. I talked with a forestry official a long time ago in Arizona, who said we were going to have some real big fires in the coming decades, due to continually containing all the fires we can around residences. Fires form burning fuel, and if you keep them from doing so, the fuel piles up until it isn't something you can contain.

Sad for those involved.
I had a similar conversation with a friend in Wyoming. He said the "environmentalist" have created a furnace with them not being allowed to do controlled burns, cut fire road and the other forest maintenance that is needed. They have killed budgets and there is a serious lack of trained fire fighters and equipment. He is furious at the lack of forest maintenance since Obama. He blames both parties - Dems for environmental BS and GOP for trying to turn everything into a resort!

Could be arson, or could be this.

May 9 2024: Up in flames: Rising number of homeless fires threatens LA neighborhoods

  • There were 13,909 homeless fires in Los Angeles in 2023, almost double the number of such fires in 2020, according to LAFD data.
  • Some of these fires are apparently caused by homeless people tapping into city electrical wires under the sidewalk, the I-Team found.
  • City officials confirmed that the wires can cause explosions if they're tampered with.

LA Fire Department data for the last five calendar years, obtained by the I-Team, shows the number of fires related to homeless people has been steadily climbing. There were 13,909 homeless fires in 2023, almost double the number of such fires in 2020.

These fires usually start in or around homeless tents, but often spread to nearby commercial or apartment buildings, sometimes injuring and, in rare cases, killing people.

The I-Team discovered that some of these encampment fires are apparently caused by homeless people tapping into city electrical wires under the sidewalk, meant to bring power to streetlights, and diverting the electricity into their tents.

The one thing that amazes me is the 80+ mph Santa Anna winds contributing to the problem. Wind was a key factor in the Maui last year in the fire that wiped out the town of Lahaina.

Possibly. Based on previous posts above, could also be that the rich libs in charge are tired of the homeless situation in California and started the fires. If so, just watch for the "blame and subsequent cleanup" to fall on the homeless camps. Wouldnt be the first time something destructive was intentionally done to citizens to misdirect blame and government action.

Can be little doubt that arson is involved in at least some of these fires.

Americans are facing horrific situations on a weekly basis directly related to woke policies.

Will the legacy media adjust their leftist narratives as a result of these constant nightmares ?

Not a chance……they are going to attack Donald Trump from the first moment of his inauguration.

I'd agree about taxpayer funds, but Mayors should still have the right to travel imo. Just pay for it yourself. It's not like she planned it this way. At least she came back to deal with the emergency, as if her presence really helps anything anyways. Just needs to be present for optics.

Amazing how stupid one can be to get hired if one's a blek.

The guy is likely saying what his earpiece told him to say. Give the guy a break, he's not on the ground talking to firefighters. To take a simple mistake and assign race to blame.... is pretty close to racist. But thats your M-O. You talk trash about DEI so much you really don't think any black is qualified to do anything. Not even read a teleprompter on the news.

The firefighters are saying that they are watching erratic winds blow embers for miles. So yes, id believe the firefighters instead of ignorant tweets.

Not saying it wasn't started by arson, or arson isn't still going on, just that embers in the wind are incredibly dangerous.
