Answer me this question. How do you feel about your career? Are you personally vested, not financially but personally. Do you view your career, business or discipline as a vocation, such as a Doctor, Lawyer, Financial Analyst, Intelligence professional, engineer, scientist? They definitely are not. They are an excellent predictor of who pays their bills and who does not. It's why there are ranges within the scoring categories. Your credit score isn't for you. It's for lenders.

"They" do want you to have payments because payments show that you will make the payments. If you have no payments there's no way to know if you will pay or not (same reason young people have low/no credit scores). Predicting whether you will make the payments is, quite literally, the reason for the scoring model.

That is not to say that some people aren't outliers but the goal of any model is to be accurate to the X% and credit scoring models are definitely that.
