This I don't get. If they were pardoned then they should be immediately released. No need for any slowing the process down.

oh, and you forgot Drill, Baby Drill. He are the unintended consequences of that. While it could bring down the gasoline price as the price of WTI will tank causing lots of layoffs as the profitability threshold will diminish causing big layoffs in the oil field. You know, those blue collar folks that depend on that industry for great paying jobs.

In your opinion; if Trump is to have a lasting impact on transportation costs…..shouldn't another priority be building more oil refineries ?

And to make such refineries possible , more profitable, shouldn't all the federal regulations involved with such construction be eased off dramatically ?

Very very interesting

Indeed. There are a number of them on this board who purported to be conservative and who hate Trump with the intensity of a thousand burning suns, but have never voiced anything critical of the previous administration, despite it being the antithesis of conservative values.

I think the bottom line for people like JR is, they're not really conservative.

Indeed. He larps as a conservative and he's a democrat in disguise.

He wants us to go back to neoconservatism because they're weak and they bend the knee to democrats. He's trying hard to paint Trump as radical/extreme and wants us to go back to Bush era politics which is how we ended up with the insanity of democrats to begin with.

Yep most are liars and fakers.

And there are no more moderate Republicans in practice. The left is so crazy, that a real Repub won't share any ground with them. Most moderates care more about "appearing" reasonable than about being principled. They just need their ears tickled by the left.

I understood his point, but thanks. My question was unrelated to the specific point, and was more general in nature. As this thread evidences, we hear how much he disagrees with Trump quite often (some might even say, all the time). Thus, since he alleges he is conservative, I was curious if he ever has any positive thoughts on Trump's policies.

Moreover, as to his point, I think the good of the public as a whole outweighs the needs of a much smaller percentage of workers who will be affected by such policies.

Interestingly enough, I think the same could be asked of you, since you claim to be conservative.

Yes you should have added it. lol.

But yes, JR's argument is that America will produce more, export more, transport more, consume more, drill more, explore more, manufacture more, and on and on, yet we will need fewer blue-collar workers. That's JR for you.

If the price were to drop due to external price pressures, sure we'd have fewer blue collar workers, But if we are doing MORE baby MORE, we will be increasing the blue-collar workforce.

JR doesnt care about the people and if they have jobs or not. He only wants the price of oil to go up so the numbers in his bank account go up. Thats why he likes dems bc they like to limit production causing the price of a barrel of oil to increase. He's not worried about the guy who has to fill up his truck to get to work or the cost of diesel to truck the groceries to the store.

That's not the way oil and gas work. There is a sweet spot per barrel that everyone in the industry know. It's been going up through the Biden era and is currently at a high of $77. We need to get that back down to closer to $60. Lots and lots of blue collar folk will be needed to make that happen and keep it there.

I'm in that business too and you should damn well know that operators/companies have largely left behind their drill baby drill days and have adopted strict capital discipline. Investors want dividends and share buybacks, not all their capital spent immediately.

On top of that, the production growth that slowed down last year is going to continue for at least another two years. China is struggling, their demand is super low.
