When was the last time Zelensky allowed the people to vote their approval or disapproval? Approval rates are meaningless without fair elections and when opposing viewpoints are silenced and opposing parties are suppressed. Obviously, these are characteristics of a dictatorship.

send her to prison for what?

I dont like what she said in any way but she is just expressing her constitutionally protected first amendment right

Free speech has limits: inciting a riot, threatening to kill someone, promoting assassination, shouting "fire" in a crowded theater, etc. Congress and the courts have imposed reasonable standards of what speech crosses the line.

The geographic boundaries of Washington DC are clearly defined and have worked for over 200 years. There is no need to change that. The question is about the government of the city. Should all the decisions continue to be made by the locally elected representatives or should all decisions be made by congress? The local govt has been solid Democrat for decades but that should not be an issue. More important, they have been incredibly corrupt & incompetent for decades. I'd like to say that is a common characteristic among Dems, as recent events seem to attest, but the reality is that those are traits of any politicians with a solid lock on power and little effective opposition. For decades the GOP had basically zero chance of winning any electoral victories in the city. It's a one party dictatorship in the nation's Capital. For example, in 1984 Ronald Reagan won of the biggest landslide victories in history. In the electoral college he won every state except Walter Mondale's Minnesota (which Mondale barely won) and DC.

I'm not sure I like the idea of a federal takeover but it bears some consideration.

Bye Felicia.

It reminds me of when the Left was saying "Republicans like Liz Cheney support Kamala!"

But we saw Republicans don't support Liz Cheney. She got her a handed to her in the Wyoming primary. I think to the tune of 70-30.

Republican voters hate Bush-Cheney types

The GOP donor class loves them

That is a key conflict area inside the party

The RINO's are not really republicans and cannot get votes now, for the most part. They are as relevant as their poster girl, Liz Cheney.

Their remaining power is concentrated amongst a few dinosaur senators who are unpopular now. Hopefully McConnell, Cornyn, Graham, etc will soon be gone.

Been trying to primary Cornyn since I could vote it seems like. Maybe we pull it off next time.

If Putin attacks a NATO country, we will live up to our obligations but the money laundering mechanism known as the Ukranine conflict is over for the USA.

Putin keeps winning re-election but those elections are rigged. Also, journalists and others who publicly criticize him keep dying in mysterious ways. They are often Epsteined.

For many Americans, it's a fight that doesn't concern us much & we have had enough of our tax dollars wasted in the Biden money laundering scam.

If Liberals keep demanding Statehood for DC (a place that votes 93% of the Democratic party) then yes I think shrinking the place down should be on the table.

Let 80% of it go to Maryland (already a blue state) and let the rest be run directly by Congress

We don't need a special Federal administrative territory that has 700k people

It could be just 20K

I would love to hear your conspiracy theory about what Trump would even get from being "Putin's boy"

We know what the liberal DC political class gets from proxy war with Russia (making billions in kickbacks and slush fund side deals in a very corrupt country)

So far Trump has gotten nothing but a headache trying to negotiate peace in Eastern Europe

Had he not won this election he would have ended up in prison and broke.

Russia isn't the good guys. Neither is Ukraine but I have a hell of a lot of respect for Zelensky fighting for his country. I would prefer not to cozy up to either and I definitely don't like the way we are treating Putin right now.

I have serious doubts Russia stops at Ukraine. If they were anywhere near the power they were 40 years ago I would be 100% certain they won't stop. These days I just don't think they are really able to fight much longer/further.

The impending demographic collapse in Russia and China will reshape geopolitics and possibly within our lifetimes.

I am not sure we are seeing their "capabilities". It looks to me that this is similar to Germany in Spain, testing equipment, hardening troops and identifying leaders. One thing I think Russia is doing Germany didn't, is integrating their allies into the effort. They now have experience working with North Korea, Iran and China in actual combat situations. I have noticed a difference in the battle tactics and how they operate.

Sorry, based on the size and weapon systems that Russia has I find it hard to believe that they can't knock Ukraine out.

It's not a conspiracy when you say it out loud. He simply likes Putin and Russia more than Europe and other allies. Maybe he wants to hang a big failure on Biden too. There's a myriad of political scores he's settling and maybe this is his big FU to all those who questioned him the last time. Whether there's some broader malfeasance beyond the narcissistic satisfaction of pissing off his political enemies, I have no idea. But what he's been doing defies any logic of geostrategic American interests. I mean he's talking about drill baby drill now…in Russia.

But listen. Just to show I'm not irrational, if there's a peace deal that looks better than what's been floated, and these "concessions" helped get it there, I'll happily eat crow and say he played a different type of chess. But so far we've talked about giving the moon to Russia while there hasn't even been a ceasefire. This might turn out to be the real Russia hoax.
