as President Trump has cozied up to Mr. Putin and moved to normalize relations with Russia, Republicans who once vowed to uphold Ukraine's sovereignty have stayed silent or moderated their tone.

Russia isn't the good guys. Neither is Ukraine but I have a hell of a lot of respect for Zelensky fighting for his country. I would prefer not to cozy up to either and I definitely don't like the way we are treating Putin right now.

I have serious doubts Russia stops at Ukraine. If they were anywhere near the power they were 40 years ago I would be 100% certain they won't stop. These days I just don't think they are really able to fight much longer/further.

The impending demographic collapse in Russia and China will reshape geopolitics and possibly within our lifetimes.

I would have a lot more respect for Zelensky if he didn't act like a dictator so much (no elections, censorship, etc) or if his regime weren't so corrupt. Putin is not the good guy but neither is Zelensky.
His term ended 9 months ago, and he's in an imminent threat environment. Putin has been in power for over 25 years. Let's not start drawing parallels just yet.

It's all about actions & behaviors. The comparison is valid for those reasons. Duration isn't really relevant except someone who has done it longer has more experience.

Didn't see the 9/11 stuff. We did our share of booing... Geez, the game was in Boston! Outside of Philly I can't think of a more abusive fan base.

U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols rejected pleas to keep his temporary stay on the government's plan to remove all but a small fraction of USAID staffers from their posts. His ruling also allows the administration to start the clock ticking on its planned 30-day deadline for USAID workers abroad to move back to the U.S. at government expense.

His ruling comes in a broad lawsuit filed by unions on behalf of the agency staff, especially those at risk of being stranded abroad. The suit describes the Trump administration stalling needed medical evacuations for USAID staffers and spouses overseas, cutting some contractors off from emergency communications, and leaving staffers to flee political violence in Congo without support or funding.
