I know you are way above such a thing but when or if you go to a bar and get drunk do you blame the bartender?

https://www.niaaa.nih.gov/alcohols-effects-health/alcohol-topics-z/alcohol-facts-and-statistics/alcohol-related-emergencies-and-deaths-united-states.

178,000 annually. Yet its legal and available everywhere. Shouldnt we be going to the bars and shooting unarmed bartenders? Of course not. A person is responsible for his own actions

Most of the men on the boat are probably just workers barely getting paid. One or two are probably really assiciated in the cartel.

So its ok for our military to kill unarmed helpless men with no due process?

I'm for killing drug dealers just on principle

But if it also puts pressure on a Marxist criminal regime that has turned Venezuela into a poverty stricken Hell hole then all the better.

The real human rights tragedy is not the U.S. military blowing up some narco-cartel boats. It's what the socialists there have done to one of the most promising South American countries.

As Bill Maher has pointed out..Trump is really not a fan of wars

He has been remarkably peaceable compared with our last couple of Presidents (of both parties) inebriated on a post-cold war victory high and "end of history" liberal rhetoric.

Trump is more pragmatic than propagandist…and never gets high on his own supply like our last few leaders

Are you not aware of the thousands of hours of video tape out on the internet of Apaches and Spectres shooting up vehicles and villages full of people declared to be terrorists.....using NVGs to shoot them one by one by one as they ran or crawled away.....using heat detection to shoot them until they no longer gave off heat? I mean, I could post dozens of them. Terrorists running away from the kill zone. Obviously wounded terrorists getting shot again until they quit moving. Our gunships shooting everything thrice or more they Winchester. Happens in warfare all the time. No power is required to order its troops to cease fire and go check the other side to see if there are any remaining troops or if there are any wounded who might need treatment. It is perfectly legal to keep striking targets until the targets are completely and utterly destroyed beyond any possibility of the slightest threat remaining.

Are you going to order want YOUR son or daughter to rappel down the side of a destroyer at night into a Zodiac armed with nothing but an M4 to motor out to a damaged cartel speedboat to check with torchlights to see if any of the terrorists remaining on/near the craft might be wounded and/or ready to surrender? no. You are not going to do that, because its an unnecessary risk to your kids. Instead, you are going to blast everything to well-beyond smithereens and then move on to the next target.

The faux outrage over what we're doing to what are obviously cartel speedboats stacked full of bales of narcotics is absolutely the most contrived BS we've yet seen from the neverTrumpers....going into vapors over stuff Presidents of both parties have done for decades, millions of rounds expended, just because the Orange Man ordered it this time.

You are misdirecting the conversation, all those things you describe happened on a declared action approved by Congress. Congress APPROVED the AUMF for those actions you described, Bush went to Congress and got their blessing. Trump has not done that. Executive Authority is on how to do it, not what to do. Only Congress can do that.

Also, it wasn't the SecDef running around telling inconsistent stories, posting books of turtles blowing up boats and throwing the command structure under the bus. Please reference the AUMF for the current narco-terrorist mission? Mills had one in September that was being floated around based on the 2001 AUMF. Did it pass? If so, I stand corrected. If they don't need one, why did Corey Mills write one up?

Whether or not drug smuggling is an attack is still under debate, but I do get the feeling that it will be resolved sooner rather than later if Trump invades. He will have to go to Congress to invade Venezuela. No way they are invading a Western Hemisphere nation without Congressional approval. It would create a situation similar to Grenada. And you would see a War Powers fight. I do not think the Administration wants that.

Why? Because we all agree that the Cartels have to be stopped. Trump has momentum and the general opinion of pretty much everyone that this needs to be done. Once again, he is his own worst enemy. He seems to want to prove he can do whatever he wants more than getting it done. Hegseth is not helping him.

Hegseth did change his story, several times. Until he admitted he didn't see it. He brought this on himself. The kids book? You really are going to defend that? Hegseth is in over his head. His job is to keep the President in formed and Congress on the President's side. He is not doing that. It is not to be playing Call of Duty with real people. SecDef is not tactical, it is political

Always have been….always will be.

Blowing up a few boats is not going to have much impact. I have qualms on moral grounds, when we kill anyone, anywhere, without ample justification. I don't really care what international laws we follow, I care that we act in good faith.

So can you answer just 1 question? How are we acting in good faith, when we pardon a guy that has been convicted of smuggling massive amounts of cocaine into the United States? Do you not care about the hundreds of thousands of lives ruined?

It's a blockade.

Under international law, a blockade is an act of war. But we haven't blockaded the state of Venezuela. We've blockaded cartel shipments only. The Venezuelan state cannot cite it as an act of war without admitting that it is sponsoring narcotics trade.

Well played by the admin = using our strength in a narrowly targeted way which makes it difficult for Venezuela to muster any allies.

Ensuing air strikes will be an escalation, but again, Venezuela is obligated under international law to prevent their territory from being used as a safehaven for narcotics trafficking to other countries.

Hard for the cartels to sustain cash flow when their logistics are being degraded. They will weaken the cohesiveness of the Venezuelan regime. Again, shrewd policy at play.

We are doing this for oil. You are being bamboozled.

Once we get access to the oil, we will not be bombing boats on anyone else's coast. We will not go to the source. We will make up something about drugs the next time someone with oil needs to help us out by giving us oil.

Cope trope.
First you say, we just blowing up a few boats.
Now, you say we are going in to steal oil?
So which is it?

We are not going in for oil. We've never "taken" oil. We pay for it when it makes sense, and in extremis we've got plenty. In this particular case, we will afford the new regime stability help for a rebuilding they can pay for with their own oil sales (to us, and others).

Let me spell it out. Blowing up a few boats a month does not stop the international drug trade. At first, anyone would think it was pretty crazy, but then we amass a significant percentage of our Navy there, and start messing with Venezuela. Obviously it was never about drugs, it was about invading Venezuela.

How long before we invade, do you think?

Geez you are obtuse. The blockade will negatively affect cash flow of the cartels. That affects the cohesiveness of the regime. And it is an incremental step on the escalation ladder….a prudent & easily justifiable one. They COULD back down. Whether they will or not …..the enemy always gets a vote.

Looks like we've made an ultimatum. That's is a prelude to war.
