Nothing new.

The mega rich want cheap fuel, cheap transportation costs, fewer illicit narcotics, and freedom ……..but they want someone else to do the dirty work.

But this time we have to ignore their selfishness……and fight for our strategic national interests.

Everyone benefits from cheap fuel. Everyone benefits from cheaper transportation costs......

Naturally

But only a fraction of those who benefit are willing to put their ass on the line to secure it.

Now being reported that at least 31 members of the CUBAN military were killed during the US attack in VENEZUELA.

Apparently they were maning anti aircraft weapons.

Another piece of the puzzle now comes into place.

Got to put our special forces on key points in country......within 2-5 days at the latest.

Otherwise Cuba is going to complicate matters even further.

Cuba is not in position to complicate anything. They are all of a sudden kinda idolated. Cuba got their oil from Venezuela. Iran will be no help whatsoever. Russia is rather heavily engaged. China can toss money at them, but where will Cuba get its oil (at the kind of discounted pricing it got from Venezuela)? And, of course, Cuba is loaded up with all kinds of military hardware that doesn't work very well. Not predicting collapse of the Cuban regime, but it's position just got a lot more complicated.

Just another collateral benefit of taking out Maduro......

Make Cuba Great Again just around the corner. In a few years it will be a great stop for cruise ships.

A new paradigm may be developing here. The Trump paradigm. Let economic development rebuild a country, not whatever the heck we tried to do in Iraq.

Trump will put America first!
Trump won't get us into wars!
Trump won't nation build!

.... 11 months later

Trump is going to make cruising around Central America great!
Trump is going to take whatever military action he likes!
Trump is going to rebuild Venezuela, Cuba, Columbia, actually the list is ongoing!

Yeah, that is true.

Some on here were all about calling people "Internet Rambo's" when it was sending weapons to Ukraine. Now, we actually go in and snatch a President of another Nation and that is good.

We should never Nation Build, until we need to rebuild Venezuela and take Greenland. Usually it has to do with them getting something out of it.

I am not automatically opposed to what happened in Venezuela. It's the running the country talk that I oppose. But do this in Cuba? Columbia? Where does it end? W time in Venezuela makes sense. Maybe even in Cuba. But then return power to the people. And dont keep going until we control tge Hemisphere. That is plain crazy.

Right now I think Trump is trying to push his advantage and take advantage of the uncertainty that other nation's leaders may have in him.

How many times do realtors ask some idiotic price as a starting point so they can then negotiate down to a point that is north of what the market had been. Thats his background.

I think he's expecting Cuba, Columbia and Denmark to be a bit nervous about playing hardball.

Denmark really does need help with keeping Greenland secure. Not sure they really care much about its defense since it's in the opposite hemisphere from the homeland.

Current estimates of Venezuelan oil exports have been between 0.7 million bpd to 1.7 million bpd. That's quite a spread but that is also factoring in US sanctions.

At their peak in the 90s they were just over 3 million bpd.

I'm guessing Trump will make it a point to have a tanker pulling out of Ven waters before the end of the week.

The typical tanker hitting Beaumont is 500.000 bbls and 1 million.

The first couple tankers will be for photo ops while the logistics is worked out for the steady flow.

Not for the Venezuelan people ….. not for US strategic security.

Al it does is give China time to create a bonafide threat to US actions regarding Venezuela.

Possibly by attacking Taiwan, possibly by sending nukes to Cuba.

A significant portion of the US Navy was not positioned in the southern Caribbean in 2022-2024.

Swing and a miss. That's not the reason. You know very well Biden wouldn't have moved if the fleet was just twenty miles off the Taiwan coast.

Take a step back and look at who else is interested in the region.

My mistake……I should know better…..rectified.

To the victor of the spoils

Current estimates of Venezuelan oil exports have been between 0.7 million bpd to 1.7 million bpd. That's quite a spread but that is also factoring in US sanctions.

At their peak in the 90s they were just over 3 million bpd.

I'm guessing Trump will make it a point to have a tanker pulling out of Ven waters before the end of the week.

The typical tanker hitting Beaumont is 500.000 bbls and 1 million.

The first couple tankers will be for photo ops while the logistics is worked out for the steady flow.

None of this solves anything.

Not for the Venezuelan people ….. not for US strategic security.

Al it does is give China time to create a bonafide threat to US actions regarding Venezuela.

Possibly by attacking Taiwan, possibly by sending nukes to Cuba.

China will not do anything that will not work to their advantage. What do they gain by making a move on Taiwan?

Humiliate Trump by forcing him to back down regarding Venezuela.

If China could have taken Taiwan they would have done it 2022-24.

I think a lot of people would be better able to understand some of the decisions, not to mention see mistakes in them, if they better understood how to read maps and recognize shifts in policy/strategy.

Saber rattling is not commonly used when actual military action is planned, nor are major powers engaged without a lot of prior discussion.
That which does not kill me, will try again and get nastier

We're going to be forced to escalate because the current VZ admin, China, and Russia are not going down without a fight. Instability is the instrument they operate in, and just keeping it there benefits them. Let's hope it's not a major escalation. Despite the "freedom" hype there is a strong socialist bent in the Venezuelan population. It was there pre Chavez and was the reason he rose to power.

Do you think the strong socialist bent is still present in the general population of Venezuela? Or just among enough of the people with means to be a problem?
