I'm not sure if there are any good reasons for thinking Talarico can win. The polls are often flawed, very subjective, and wrong. It happens every election cycle: the polls over estimate Dem support. Harry Enten on CNN had a segment on this 1-2 weeks ago: if the GOP performs the way they usually do relative to the polls then they will win several key senate races.
My conclusions about Talarico and the Texas race are strictly an opinion based on the obvious realities of Texas and Texas voters. On top of that large numbers of blacks and Hispanics, groups that historically have voted Dem in large numbers, are very unlikely to vote for him. His radical ideas, his transparent lies, and his creepiness will continue to turn them off. Most will either vote for Paxton or stay home.
All the Left has is their propaganda and flawed polls. Both are unreliable.
The only possible way he can win is if large numbers of GOP voters stay home. That seems unlikely too.
You are ignoring the only reason we are having this discussion. The GOP candidate is even worse.
Talarico is far worse than Paxton in almost every way imaginable. He does not represent Texans and his ideas are crazy and dangerous. He cannot even face reality, a common trait in the Left. Worst of all he is a blasphemer, repeatedly lying about God and Hod's word. I hope James repents.
If he doesn't represent Texans, how is he going to get betweeen 47% and 51% of the vote? Don't we have elections to decide who represents us best?
With respect, Frank, if the people of Texas genuinely had the chance to choose someone who actually would represent our interests as a State in the US Senate, I believe we would be much more likely to choose someone with a normal job, living in a modest neighborhood, who was not so comfortable with political ads and the fake persona we see so commonly in political candidates all over the TV and internet now.
What a strange comment to make, doubly so when it's seemingly intended to be a criticism of Talarico...
He lives in a normal house in north Austin and was a public school teacher, one of the most normal middle class careers imaginable. If that's your criteria, then you're backing the wrong horse.
1. It was a comment about our available roster of candidates, not aimed at any one person.
2. Talarico certainly fails the part I put in bold above.

Brother, you know that's an easy answer. The woke party is all about bringing in cheap foreign labor and eliminating blue collar jobs to the globalists. Additionally, they hurt the schools and quality of life in every city they run.

That's so emotional. GOP has lead Texas for the last two to three generations. The state is worse off than it was in 1995. All issues in the state (schools, taxes, crime,) all occurred under GOP leadership.
The "it could have been worse" argument is hollow. Especially when your argument is to "stop furries from popping in litter boxes in school."

As long as Trump is out there campaigning, Talarico might be wise to lay low. Just give Trump and his MAGA loyalists all the rope they need to hang themselves.
I honestly believe Trump flipped a coin on the decision whether endorse Cornyn or Paxton. I think Trump had zero clue about Paxton's shenanigans and history. He f***** up.
